Royal Enfield unveils their new Super Meteor 650, a parallel twin cruiser arriving in the US in summer 2023.

(Courtesy of Royal Enfield/)Royal Enfield just pulled the cover off of the new Super Meteor 650, expanding both its parallel twin and Meteor lines. The new cruiser takes styling cues from vintage RE Meteor models, like the previously released Meteor 350, but now centered around the brand’s 648cc 2-cyl engine.

The Super Meteor’s silhouette is traditional cruiser to a T, with a 16-inch rear wheel and 19-inch front. A sloping line leads from the bike’s gas tank down to the low seat, then back up for the rear fender and passenger seat. A steel tubular frame is visible throughout, with plenty of room around the engine for light to pass through.

(Courtesy of Royal Enfield/)From the spec sheet, it appears that no major changes were made to Enfield’s parallel twin to adapt it from the Continental and INT650 platforms to this cruiser model. Bore, stroke, and compression numbers are all identical and RE claims the same power output for all three bikes: 38 foot-pounds torque and 47 horsepower.

(Courtesy of Royal Enfield/)The Super Meteor’s all-new chassis was developed with British-based motorcycle racing and parts manufacturer Harris Performance. Enfield says the new chassis was designed to provide a low center of gravity for the kind of easy maneuverability that inspires confidence in riders of all skill levels.

43mm inverted forks with 4.7 inches of travel are a pleasant surprise; dual outboard shocks with 4 inches of travel suspend the rear. An LED headlight, new engine cases, and a TBT navigation system also contribute to the Super Meteor’s high level of finish.
