The ten dumbest things you can do on a bike

How many have you accomplished?

http://rideapart.com/2013/10/dumbest...-do-on-a-bike/

I must have done the keys in the pocket thing about ten times.

One time I could not figure out what was hitting the side of my helmet on the way to work..... tap, tap, tapitty-tap...... Duh forgot to do up my helmet strap.

Haha more like 10 things we've all done. I wouldn't call them dumb really, I get mcdonalds and stuff from time to time at lunch and just stuff the bag in my jacket at the window and take off. Weird looks but it works

3, 5, 6, (almost) 7, 8, 9.

Then there's the embarrassing stall as the light turns green.... The last light I hit on the way to work is an opportunity to do a beautiful, dynamic swooping left turn in full view of a lot of cars. When done right it's an "ooohhh... coool...." moment. But not when you try to launch and the bike goes "ught!"

My first bike years ago

Number 7 for sure....

My first trip on a bike years ago involved pulling out from the guy's neighborhood where I bought it, and within 1 mile, someone passed on a double yellow line coming at me. I rode to a gas station and forgot to put the kickstand down and damn near dropped it. Finally I turned off the highway into my neighborhood which was a 135° right turn and swung wide. Midway through the turn, a car appeared coming toward me and when I cut in harder, I lowsided the bike.

My first trip was doomed!! That was 21 years ago.

From that list, I am guilty of;

Keys in pocket
Leaving tank bag unzipped
Carrying stuff in the front of my jacket

Hahah that's great!

When I first started riding, I kept hearing a tap on my helmet. At first I thought it was the helmet strap but it wasn't. So I thought it was something loose on my backpack but didn't find anything wrong. Couldn't figure it out so I had to deal with it the entire ride. A couple days later I realized it was the string from my hoodie that I wore under my jacket

That's a great list.

Definitely guilty of the accidental honk

Just number 3 for me. It's usually my wallet in my back pocket when I have overpants on. Such a pain.

Let's see...

#1 not at a turn but as i was dismounting to get some pictures, while the rest of the group remained seated and waited patiently. Got video of the resulting horn chorus that accompanied me to the overlook.

#3 key in overpant or jacket pocket, thankfully.

#7 unfortunately a few times...

#10 yeah.....

#1: Done that a few times. The first time when I was test riding my new bike after paying for it but before officially taking delivery. I was turning left into an uphill driveway behind a pickup truck that stopped suddenly for a car backing out of a space. I accidentally honked behind the truck as we came to a stop when I went to cancel my signal. He looked back like "wtf" and I just backed up out of the driveway and continued down the street.

#3: Put the overpants on and the key is in my inside pants pocket. Loosened up the waist and started reaching down my pants. Probably looks pretty pervy but luckily it's usually in a private place like my garage or house.

Only been riding a month, I'm sure I'll eventually be able to list my own examples for each one.
