Rhok Kevlar Jeans

So after watching the Mordeth13 video review on the Rhok kevlar jeans I purchased them for $140. They're going to take a week or two to arrive from Australia. I will post my personal experience with them once they arrive.

I've been wearing one for ~1 year now, still in great condition. Very comfortable on the bike.

That is awesome. I was looking for a pair since I do mostly short commutes to work. I was going to purchase the AGV Malibu jeans till I saw M13's video about the Rhok jeans. Now I just play the waiting game till they arrive.

I'm incredibly happy about these jeans. I'm tall and thin and thus NEVER find motorcycle pants that properly fit me. I get that the vast majority of riders don't need a 32 inch waist and a 36 inch inseam, but come on! Thankfully, RHOK take custom orders and they aren't horrendously expensive. Having a tailored pair of kevlar jeans complete with knee and hip armor is like a god-send to me.

How long did shipping take? Been eagerly waiting for my pair to come in.

From the time I put in my custom order to actually having them in hand was about three weeks, I believe. Probably a week of actual waiting once they'd shipped. Well worth the wait.

I bought them from ebay for 140 and supposedly the fitting should be spot on

The waist should be true to size, so a 32 will be 32 inch. I don't think you need to order a size up for the armors as the jean is pretty baggy so there will be plenty of room inside.

If they're baggy then the armor will be almost useless as there's a good chance it will move around in the event of a get off. I tried armored jeans before but being too baggy is what kept me away and I have yet to find good kevlar pants with armor unless you get armor that straps on, but that could get annoying when it's hot out.

The hip armors does fit snuggly and the knee armors will slide into the right spot when you bend your knees on the bike. It's not tight so they will probably only going to protect you from the initial impact, after that they might slide of out place. The only way for the armor to stay in place is for the jeans to be as tight as leather pants, but then who would wear that? I guess you can't have everything.

Or make a kevlar jean with a layer of thick denim and underneath a separate layer of tighter fitting kevlar with armor in it. It would look normal to others but the tight kevlar would help keep armor in place.

Keyvlar jean manufactures are really lazy. I don't understand why it they can't just use the seam lines already available on jeans and cut and fold the Kevlar to follow those contours.

I guess it would actually require designing your own clothing which means you you can't just throw some kevlar on a pair of jeans from a bulk jean manufacturer and sell it for way more than its worth.

That would be hot as crap. The initial impact is going to be the most severe by far anyway, I'd rather something comfortable enough to actually wear all the time that protects fairly well, than a suit of armor I end up leaving in the closet.

You could also do a textile/mesh layer with kevlar in the knees/hip/thigh area. But if you high side, or even a low side, there's a good chance you won't be in the riding position and with loose riding jeans the armor could move. I guess that's a risk some are willing to take.

My jeans arrived today by DHL. Shipped on Oct 4th arrived on Oct 22nd. They're pretty comfortable and the knee and hip armor feel pretty attached when sitting down. The knee armor goes in from the outside of the jeans, it's a small low profile zipper and tucks in. As for the hip it goes in from the inside of the jeans. Immediately you can tell the difference in this jean when I picked them up you can feel the difference in weight compared to normal jeans. As for the fit they seem a little bit bigger so i'd say if you're a size 30 it's about 31 and length is about 32. Overall I am pretty satisfied with this purchase.
