Brembo brake calipers for the 250???

Hey guys, just saw these on ebay, not a bad price and i do ride my ninjette pretty hard and feel i could benefit from some better than stock brakes. anyone have any experience with these or suggestions for replacing the stock brakes?

I think you might be better off with just upgrading to braided stainless steel brake lines and upgraded brake pads. I'm not sure what kind of hard riding you do to need more braking. I feel the stock brake system is more than adequate for everyone's needs. The brembos will require you to make brackets and do some R&R to make it work properly. Plus what you listed is a rear brake setup.

your stock 2-piston brake calipers are better than those single piston rear brakes

I don't think it would be worth it for the rear.

That's not even a real Brembo caliper. Knock-off from Thailand.

well they are listed as 2 pot... i see in their other items they have 4 piston brakes too. i know its a rear brake, i emailed them to find out about a front caliper.

how big a diff will it make switching to braided cables?

i was actually searching for replacement brake pads when i stumbled on this item. and the new brembo calipers with pads cost about as much as replacement pads do, a lil extra shipping of course, but thats why i really considered the switch.

Those are not genuine Brembo calipers.

+1 and I don't think they would bolt up right on the bike. The stock calipers are plenty capable to me especially with braided lines. I haven't even seen any racers locally that swapped the calipers out. After I installed my lines I went to test them out and was able to screech to a stop with ease.

I'm sure you know the benefit of steel braided vs stock rubber. Steel braided reduces/rids the expansion loss from the pressure on the lines so you get more braking for the same effort used in to brake normally with stock rubber lines. Combine that with better brake pads and you got MAD BRAKING POWER!

+1. Also those knock off calipers are not a direct bolt on.

people like vesrah and ebc double-h sintered pads.

if you want more braking power or to just look cool you might consider adding a second disc and caliper... some guy in indo did it and he made a video on youtube.

I have the ebc HH sintered pads. They kinda sucked worse then the stock nissins until they broke in. After that they felt pretty good.

HEL or Goodridge braded lines & Carbone Lorraine or EBC sintered HH pads are what you're after.

I've HEL's on the front & they are a massive improvment on the stock ones, I keep the rear rubber to reduce the chances of a rear lock up.

Kevlar brake pads aren't as strong as sintered, & i think the stock pads are sintered, so you dont want kevlar (organic)

rear brakes are pretty useless on the 250. i wouldn't spend much money on them, or use them very much... cheap cycle parts would be my first suggestion, but its easier to just go pick them up from a local kawi dealer

Yeah I wouldn't even bother getting sintered pads for the rear. Just go with organic.

really? i actually use my rear brakes alot and the rear pads seemed to have worn faster than the front.

im thinking of just grabbing some cheapies for the rear rt now since it feels like they need replacement immediately... and im gonna order the braided cables and sintered pads for front and rear and do a complete changeover once they arrive.

Well, I feel that even with the stock brakes I can stop pretty fast, and don't use close to 100% of my braking power the majority of the time, and have been pretty satisfied with braking performance even in emergency situations. I use the front brake mostly, and my front wore out much faster than my rear did.

I also switched out to the EBC HH Sintered. They seem to work fine.
