I HATE the New Jersey DMV

I got my motorcycle permit on October 8th, no real problems except for some of the workers in the office not knowing that I can get a motorcycle license without having a car license. I had an appointment for my road test today, October 29th, 21 days after getting my permit.

The NJ DMV website states that a minimum of 20 days must be waited between getting a permit and taking the road test. It also states that I cannot get a waiver for my road test by completing an MSF course (which I took anyway and just got a completion card).

Rode to the DMV today with my fully licensed motorcycle buddy and my reflective tape on three sides of my helmet and my clear visor just incase they wouldn't let me take the road test with a mirrored visor. Had my 6 points of identification to be absolutely positive there would be no reason my test would be delayed and there would be no problems.

Boy was i wrong! It turns out that because I am 17 and do not have a driver's license I am under GDL restrictions and must wait 6 months before I can take my road test! The website didn't say this anywhere. The people who work in the office didn't know this. I was given an illegal appointment by a government worker!

They really need to make sure the people that they hire know what the heck they are doing.

F*** the DMV

dont get discourged, In the meantime, pick up some gear, good equipment aint cheap, and cheap equipment aint good. Read up on bikes, Get your 250, get yourself into shape, that 6 months will fly by. Just keep positive and you'll be on the road in no time. Its fall here in nj anyway, If you start riding in april or may that will give you like 7 months of riding. Cheers.
