RSS Feeds

Hey Alex,

Just wondering if it's possible to get new threads showing up in an RSS reader (Google Reader specifically). I have all my motorcycle forums and news sites feeding through there, except Ninjette.

Hi Pat -

Sorry, the RSS feeds are not enabled for this site. I feel that even if the impact were slight, turning some users of the board to a consume-only mode rather than having them right on the thread where they can respond directly and immediately, might take something away from the quality of the content here. On a lesser note, the RSS syndication with vB has been flaky over the years, and causes more of a server hit than might be expected. I haven't looked into it recently, and perhaps some of the performance issues have been ironed out.

How about a topic-only feed or one that only includes the first few lines?

The NewsBot always gives a little preview.

Doesn't work that way with vB; it's all or nothing. The only parameter you can change is how many articles (recent threads) show up in the feed by default, and the feed includes all public forums. Unlikely to happen here.
