I spent a lot of money on my baby.

-saving the $5 a day it was to ride the bus, free parking
-more exercise because I park at a free lot that's 1 mile away from work but all uphill
-more peace
-better ability to get around
-absolutely thrilling even at 25 mph

I don't know if I'm breaking laws or not, but I always seem to be able to tuck my bike in somewhere no more than a 20 metres from my destination. Everywhere is free!!

Tell me about it! I'm new to riding and everything feels so fast even at slow speeds. I'm often glancing down at the speedometer because I feel like I'm going so much faster than I actually am. 25 feels like 40

I work in downtown Pittsburgh and the meter maids come around a lot so I try to avoid anything even remotely questionable.

Although I always joke how I'm just going to park in the receiving room. No one will notice, right?

Off road, I think you're good as long as you don't park in a blue hatched (handicap) or yellow hatch (fire zone) or an area with anti-motorcycle signage. I usually park right up by the front door, in the white hatched area NEXT to the handicap area or in the bicycle rack area. I prefer not to park in the main lot because of the risk for getting rammed by cars.

Parking is definitely a perk for bikes in many cases.

stress free

IT takes all things that stress you out and release it while riding. especially when out and away from traffic. It is freedom to explore and see new things. Gives tales to talk about. Gives a life long way experience to remember. A love that can cost you, hurt you, scare the **** out of you. But a love you will always enjoy.

I can now gladly say that the first 2 vehicles I ever purchased were both sportbikes. I can't wait to say that when I'm 80 and telling my grandchildren around some futuristic hoverbike.

My Grandpa is about 80 and his first 2 vehicles were bikes!

I asked him about it an he responded:
Quote:
My first was an Enfield 250 which was a birthday present at age 18 perhaps. It had a hand gear change on the side of the fuel tank and was second hand for about £20. Later I bought a new Matchless 500, very sleek and shiny and was the first model to be fitted with hydraulic front forks. I kept it for about a year and then moved on to a Morris 8 soft top car
The roads were probably safer back then. The fact I exist is probably some small testament to that!

For some reason both my Dad and my Grandpa did-ride, but don't-ride

BLISS - ergo Ironglory. And this state gets transfered to my wife & son until I meet my mother-in-law again and I ride just to keep the feeling of serenity. Well that and just to stay away from her.
