yes!
If you can cut and weld metal, making custom mounts will let you swap in pretty much any engine you want! Like those cruisers with Chevy small-block V8s! |

Missing out on loads of engines on ebay just because I can't find out any engine fitment info theres a 2010 engine on there that if it fitted would be perfect, could even start a fi conversion project.

What exactly is the problem with the engine that's in it now?
It's going to be difficult to absolutely say that a Ninja 250 engine will drop right in - but it might. Most likely there would be some differences, mostly in the tuning area where the Ninja would be tuned for more high RPM power. Still, I would expect that your carbs and manifolds should bolt up, though it may run and ride slightly different due to the mix. Comparing part numbers of parts like engine cases and such may tell you if the major pieces are the same. |

Think the top end is toast, each cylinder is 60 psi and its only firing on 1 and sounds very knocky after it first starts which is like 1 in 40 attempts, also it has 34k miles on the clock.
Also I, m sure its never had a valve adjustment. |

I would start by taking things apart and confirming what's going on with the top end. It may not be as bad as you think. Could be possible the valves are way out of spec and hanging open, so you aren't getting compression.
How does the oil look? Drain the oil and look for any bronze colored flakes, which would indicate a bearing failure. What do the plugs look like? |

Good idea! Get your hands dirty working on existing engine. Can't possibly make it worse and you may even fix it! Great practice for engine swap.
Quick internet shows El250 uses same engine as ZZR250. Which appears to same as pre-gen Ninja 250. Perhaps with more friendly tune from cams, carbs, etc. External connections may be different, coolant hoses & such. |

The sparkplug on right cylinder is black looks abit rich and left is brand new because its not firing. I would like to fix the engine but was gonna do that at a later point. |
