WMRRA Aftermarket Cycles Ninja 250 Cup
I wanted to share some images I took of Tim O'Mahony and Sean Galt of WMRRA in Seattle, WA
These guys had a great season with WMRRA and I would like to thank them for all of their support and friendship. They have spent a lot of time and money to make their bikes look great and run great! Enjoy |

And a big thanks to Mark and Aftermarket Cycles for supporting our racing efforts. He always went the extra mile to find parts for us and get everything in time for the next event.
Tim O' got 2nd in both of our 250 classes. I was 8th and 10th, and Adam G. (Order) pulled off a 6th and 5th. Clearly, I still have some work to do. Can't wait for next season. -Sean |

Well lets see...
My bike (blue): Woodcraft clip-ons and rearsets Leo Vince exhaust Ivan's jet kit Andriani Cartridges RaceTech Rear shock with longer clevis Stainless lines and Vesrah pads Ignition key delete 415 chain and sprockets, (18/55) Pirelli Supercorsa tires, 110/70 SC1 front, 120/70 SC2 rear Scott's steering damper ASV levers Pregen CDI Tim's (green) is pretty similar except a lot cleaner and: gsxr cartridges adapted by KFG (GP) suspension Penske Rear shock Stock CDI Dunlop GP-211A 120/70 front and rear EBC pads Both bikes were pretty well set up. The only major changes throughout the season were changing to the smaller rear tires (recent) and increasing the ride height in the rear (not as recent). The smaller rear tires also caused a change from a 57 rear sprocket (for Tim's Dunlop 150/60 and my Bridgestone 140/70) to the 55 tooth. The smaller rear tires grip just as well, handle better, don't have wasted chicken strips like the 150s do, and weigh 3 pounds lighter. They do not seem to last quite as long however since there is less rubber to wear away. (and they are pretty soft.) -Sean |

You are correct. In the Pirellis they make a 110 and a 120 front, so I use the 110 in the front and the 120 in the rear. Dunlop doesn't make a 110 race tire, so it's 120s at both ends.
The combination of elevated ride height in the back and the narrow tire makes for insanely crisp handling without getting twitchy. The ability to adjust your line at will, and keep the front on it's line whatever you do with the throttle is pretty cool. The first session I did on the new tires, I almost ran off the inside of the track in the first 3 corners because I was used to the bike running wide on the exit. Now it finishes the corner beautifully. I can only think of one guy in Seattle who is still running a 140 on the back, and he just bought the bike and hasn't changed the tires out. Everyone else on the newgens is running 120s -Sean |

Good to know. I was looking to pick up a set of rain tires but the 125gp rears are expensive. Do you guys up in Seattle also run a front 120 rain tire in the rear?

There is one guy who did on a pre-gen with 17's. Not sure how well it worked out for him though.
The rest of us just run the 125GP rains which are 95 F / 115 R if memory serves. A brand new pair of Dunlops is $250 mounted and balanced which is a lot cheaper than new bodywork. -Sean |

Damn, i am going to try that next! I love the pirellis and want to run them front and rear, but never throught to run a 120. If it works for you, I'll give it a shot

Most of the folks running them are using the SC2 in the rear. Grip is fantastic, but I think they probably last 3-4 race weekends before they are done. Mine has noticeable wear from 1 trackday and a race day.
I hear that Pirelli no longer makes an SC3 in this tire but they do have an SC4. I might see what I can find (in compound) that bridges the gap between my BT003's which could easily last all season, and the SC2 pencil eraser compound. I'd still probably keep the SC2 for racing, but a slightly harder tire on a spare wheel would probably be great for trackdays. The fronts seem to wear pretty well in the SC1, so no worries there. As far as working, it drops 3 pounds of rotating mass and the bike is super nimble. For me, the radius of the tire was 14mm lower than my Bridgestone, so I added 6mm of height to the rear shock to make up for it. This kept my front end geometry the same as I liked, and even gave me a little more swingarm angle. An overall win-win. -Sean |

Heck yeah thats a win-win, except I'd need a longer rear shock to pull this off. Seems you can still get an SC3 in a 120 from http://www.coreytaylorracing.com/pro...upercorsa.html

You'd probably like a longer shock anyway. My favorite quote from another rider is:
"We just keep adding rear height, and it just keeps getting better." That said, I still have some room to grow on my rear shock, but I just can't imagine it being any better so I don't want to mess with a good thing. Thanks for the tire link.
