Unhappy (helmet) help makin decisions :(

Cant decide between Bell Vortex or Scorpion Exo 700

Im upgrading from my 1st helmet which is sparX which is so dang noisy even at 45 mph.

Vortex and 700 got very good reviews but the vortex got an option for the shield that darkens at daytime and lightens up at night which will save me trouble of changing shields.

Any opinion will be appreciated

Ps. Sorry for bad english its my 2nd language, lol

Web Bike World is one of the best places on the internet to research helmets. They have good information on head shapes and their review pages are pretty extensive.

Of your two choices, go with the one that best matches your head shape after trying them on and don't pay attention to individual people telling you what they think of their helmets. The Vortex the EXO has a slightly narrow shape (note that the newer models appear to have a narrower shape than the older, don't rely on people saying "I have an EXO and it fits this way".) If they both fit you well, Web Bike World's reviews will be a big, relatively objective, help for you better than individual feedback. Here is the Bell Vortex review. And here is the EXO-700 page.

After fit, the most important thing is color. Buy a white or yellow helmet. There have been a number of studies, but as one example "Motorcycle Rider Conspicuity and Crash Related Injury: Case-Control Study" in the British Medical Journal, indicates that black is the worst possible color in terms of visibility (i.e., wearers are involved in more crashes), while white are the most visible. You are 25% less likely to be in an injury accident in a white helmet vs. a black helmet. That is a huge deal. Other studies come to the conclusion that yellow is the most visible color and that silver and grey blend into the road surface. So go white or yellow. WBW talks about color and the Exo 700 Neon here.

But at any rate yeah, you should go to a local bike shop and test fit some to get an idea.

Ill check my local cycle gear if they have Bell or Scorpion in stock because the size L on the sparX fits me well.

And ill be sure to check web bike world and nope im not gonna get a black helmet in las vegas heat i dont think its a goos idea i might go with white/red or gray and red

Since my ninja is white and black anyway and im considering a new reflective white rim tape.
