how do you dealing with withdrawal during bike hibernation

For those of you in the colder climates, what do you usually do to fill the void left by your ninjette when it's in winter storage?

PS....me fail english? that's unpossible

Well I live in Florida, but I didn't ride my bike for two weeks when I was waiting for the shop to get the parts in.

I think I basically set out a savings plan and plan to go to the student loan office and researched what motorcycle to buy next.

But since then, I decided it's best to buy used, so a used FZ8 is out of the question. So now what?

The high temperature on tomorrow's forcast for Spokane supposed to be somewhere in the mid to low forties.

I'll be riding. Maybe not too far, but I'll be riding. Even if it's just a 15 mile round-trip to Barnes & Noble.

Gotta get those last days of riding in before we put out a bunch of "Californian repellent" for the winter.

Mine doesn't hibernate

SoCal doesn't really have a "winter." It's just a colder autumn.
My bike is still ridden every so often.

Well, between going skiing, skating and watching hockey, I find the winters usually pass pretty quickly.

I rode mine all over Spokane today with temps ranging from mid 30s to low 40s and I didn't have to bring out my best cold-weather gear.

Bought a cheap waterproof jacket and waterproof riding pants (both with armor) from Jafrum.com...$39 for the jacket, $29 for the pants. Ridden in temps as low as 28 F and not a problem except for my propensity to wear open faced helmets. Time to get another full face!!!!

It's not worth the risk for me to drive during the snow/ice season. I've been looking into a few possible hobbies such as snowmobiling, go karting, going to the gun range, etc.

None of them match the rush of the ninjette.

It is possible to ride on ice. After seeing this video, there's no excuse to not ride in the winter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHPOw-Xmm4o

Ditto on the maintenance/modding. As soon as I've decided riding season is over, she gets a full tank of stabilized fuel, and then she goes up on stands. Plastic comes off, and I start tinkering. Personally, I enjoy wrenching almost (almost!) as much as riding, for a little while anyway.

@ alex.s, it's not so much a question of the bike working in the cold, it's more about me working in the cold. and I don't. Also, they spread salt on the roads here all winter, and I really don't want that all over my bike

Nothing wrong with that! If it's too cold, and you can't use your fingers, than you really shouldn't be riding! Once the temperature drops into the low 40's, high 30's, I'll probably just ride my road bike to and fro, as I can actually raise body temperature on my ride as opposed to my motorcycle. That and I already have the cold weather gear from my previous year of commuting!
