12v Clock Wiring

Hello all! I bought a little 12v LED clock for my bike on Ebay a while back and never got around to installing it.
Now that I'm using my bike to commute to work I really want to put it on.

My question is with the wiring.
The clock has 3 wires coming out of it, and after a little test this is what I assume they are each for:
1. Ground
2. Always Hot (so the time doesn't reset when I turn the bike off)
3. One that turns the clock on when the bike comes on, so the LEDs don't slowly drain my battery all night.

I have some prior experience with low voltage wiring from adding LEDs and street glow tubes to my car.

I'd like to know where the best place to put the third wire is. Where can I access something that turns on with bike that wont be bothered by the clock.

For the always hot I might just run a wire with an in line fuse directly to the battery, unless someone has a better suggestion.

I'd love to hear what you guys have to say!

Thanks

third wire can either go to +12, which will leave the clock on always, or possibly to a switch (rocker or toggle switch) ..

or if you want it on when the bike is on , then you can piggy back it off the ignition fuse.

I mounted it right below the key.
The clock runs fast and I tend to reset it every Monday.
Usually by Friday its 3 minutes fast.

Sorry the pics are such poor quality.

Where are the wires for the ignition switch? I bought a little LED clock with a back up Li battery. Wiring it just lights up the green, otherwise it's black time.

I used the headlight fuse under the seat

Ah ok. That seems just as easy. Got a pic of which wire it is? Can you splice it in higher along the line towards the head lights?

You're better off using your license plate light. It's a two wire connector that can be found by removing the passenger seat. It will lay along the right side (brake side) of the bike. It's a switched +12v and won't matter in case the clock shorts out. It would suck if the clock shorts out your headlight or ignition.
