[visordown.com] - New Royal Enfield Himalayan photos leaked

Royal Enfield's new Himalayan adventure bike

NEW photographs of Royal Enfield’s new Himalayan adventure bike have emerged from the firm's factory in India. The photos show the near-complete looking bike as it sits on the production line.

The pictures, which seem to have originated from the Royal Enfield Bullet Club Facebook page, give the clearest view yet of the Himalayan, built around what looks like a heavily modified version of the Continental GT frame. It’s likely that many of the changes made to the frame have come about with input from Harris Performance, which Royal Enfield bought earlier this year, along with opening an engineering facility at Bruntingthorpe.

Although concrete technical details are sparse at the moment, Indian sites are reporting that the engine, widely speculated to be a 410cc single, is in the final stages of testing and is making around 30 bhp. It is alleged to use overhead cams rather than pushrod actuation and will rev up to 7,000 rpm. This bike is the first of a new generation of platforms and products from Royal Enfield, and is part of the firm's plan to increase production by 150,000 units a year.

We revealed at the end of July that Royal Enfield has ambitions plans to conquer the middleweight market with a new range of bikes.
