carb throttle bracket mount broke
so what are my option for when the screw mount for the throttle is broken off.
jb weld? welding? relpace outer casting? - some options dont seem super cost effective. just wondering if anyone has had this issue before or not. |

Could you take a picture of the damaged part?

not at the bike now. so i found a like image of what is damaged. circled in red is damaged. circled in blue is still intact not sure how this broke. as it seems to have been an oversite on my purchase as the bike ran fine and somehow i managed to overlook the crap glue job the prior owner did on this. the screw is still attached to the part of the broken off carb mounting point. so i figure i would have a good chance of sanding and jb welding it. i have no welding skills and would prefer to not have to take the carb off and bring it to someone to weld it and so forth. just not sure what kind of tension these things have on them. doesnt seem like its much b/t throttle impute and return spring. |

I think the carb body is a zinc alloy so welding is out anyway, I'd clean it up degrease thoroughly and jb weld. putting a light film of vaseline carefully on the screw to "mold" a thread you can undo later. The pressure is not too great just ensure the cables have a little slack.
Soonish you will find an ebay carb body and have a fiddly Sunday swapping it. Here's one today http://www.ebay.com/itm/KAWASAKI-EX2...0ae393&vxp=mtr |

may be easier to just buy a whole carb assembly. that way i can pull this one. swap into a new one. rebuild this one and have some swapable carbs for exchange while cleaning and reducing down time.
but we will see. |
