I mostly need the right, rear tail and the right fairing... but if you have other parts in good condition as well, might look to replace it all..

When you actually start it, yes, but not when you are still building up the initial speed to do so. Even with the clutch pulled, the rolling resistance in-gear is much higher so it will be harder to push and it will roll slower down a hill. It's best to leave it in full neutral until you have enough speed then drop it in 1st and release the clutch.

You can test this on a rear stand. Put it in neutral, start the engine, and the tire is still... as you'd expect. BUT, hold the clutch and drop it in first and that tire immediately jumps to idle speed even without ever releasing the clutch. That lets you know that the transmission is still adding resistance to the rear tire even with the clutch held as long as it is in gear because the same friction/resistance is still connecting your engine to the rear wheel.

But if you push it around you can feel the difference even easier. One works up a sweat faster than the other!
