Ninja 250 after market exhausts or slip ons?
Hi guys , I was just wondering does anyone have any opinions on an after market exhaust/slip on for a 2008 + ninja 250 ?
First off which do you think is better a full exhaust or just a slip on , and why ? Ive heard that a full exhaust can give you more hp , anyone know anything about that? also what are some good exhausts out there, I like the yoshimura , but does anyone else have any other suggestions? thanks -Sunny |

full exhausts all the way if you want max power out of your ninja.
I'm partial to AreaP exhausts. |

+1 full exhausts will add hp (I'll try to look it up, but from what I remember yoshi is about 2-3 hp while area p is 4-5 hp). Slip ons will only add sound which isn't worth $200-$500.

Forgive my newbie ignorance if this has already been mentioned in other threads but if you install an after market exhaust whether it is slip on or full, do you also have to re-jet the bike and shim the needles? Thought that I've seen this mentioned in other threads. I could be wrong.

with a slip on... maybe, but with a full system, definitely.
w/ slip ons, you never know how lean it will make your bike run w/ the stock jetting, so as a precaution I would say to rejet/shim. personally, I would shim my bike even if it were left stock. |

I'd consider an after market exhaust and rejet if I had the money. Reading the posts from others who have done it and the performance gains they've experienced makes it tempting. In the end though, I'm gonna leave the bike stock. The other factor I have to consider is that around here, the insurance companies will not insure a modified bike. Even lowering a bike from its stock height so that you can flat foot would be enough for an insurance company here to deny you if they are anal enough. Anyways, totally different topic altogether.

I've been pretty happy with the Tyga on my track bike. Not super quiet, but you can really feel the power difference. A guy who races here in the Pac NW just put his Newgen/Tyga bike on the dyno, and posted the report here:

I could be wrong here but I have a 2 bros slip on and what I read is that it adds about 2hp. I definitely notice the acceleration is faster, and I remember a poster on another forum running a series of before and after tests with a slip on vs stock and it shaved the acceleration time down considerably.

The akrapovic is a sexy exhaust but it only comes in slip on form. :[
