Skerries 100
A friend of mine was telling me about the Skerries 100 road race. He went to the 2012 race and said it was great: very informal, easy to get to (and get around), great access to the riders and the circuit, close to Dublin.
I know that for most of the members of this forum it would be well out of reach, especially in the current economic climate. But if you're planning a trip to the Emerald Isle at any point in the future, you might want to try to coincide your trip with some fast bikes. Obviously, it isn't in the same league as the IoMTT or the Ulster GP, but it looks like a lot of fun. |

The inaugural Skerries 100 race was on Saturday July 6, 1946. In the early years the race was run by a local development committee, and the Dublin and District Motor Cycle Club. In 1987 the Loughshinny Motor Cycle Supporters Club began running the skerries 100 again. Many famous Irish bike riders competed and won in skerries, Joey Dunlop won the event on 17 occasions, last winning in 2003."
