Flying Pics
For Chris: Indeed this is the "Trainer" version. The link below has a really great high res pic of the same plane. The CIA has a non-trainer mounted on pedestals at Langley. Of course, you can't see it from the highways on both sides of the CIA! More Info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Lo..._Blackbird.jpg Last futzed with by g21-30; February 13th, 2009 at 10:40 AM. |

Yes, a beautiful shot that deserves a caption. It's the one and only SR-71B Blackbird trainer (note the double cockpit). This plane, although more than 45 years old, is still the most advanced aircraft ever made.

OK, but have you seen one with a beanie baby stuck on its nose before?

I live near a national guard base and they have planes and jets and the like flying over all the time. I'll see if I can get some pictures but usually they are to far away. (I guess I need to get a bigger lense!)

Long read, but worth it..
I wish we still had the SR-71's.. It was an awesome aircraft. I would have loved to see one take off and fly.
If you ever stand near one of these you will not forget how large it is. (link to article) Major Brian Shul: "I loved that jet" Quote:

thats cool
while stationed at edwards afb in the '80's, i got a chance to see the SR-71 in flight shooting approaches...seeing it in the bright blue sky is simply awesome. i worked on fighter aircraft, and seen alot of planes aloft...but nothing even comes close to seeing the blackbird in motion...albeit slow motion

Sr-71
Thanks Tor, a great story about a fantastic airplane. I love to fly the SR-71 in Flight Simulator 9.0, but the real thing must be incomparable.
Why am I not surprised that people who like cool bikes like cool aircraft too. Chris |
