Speed Bleeders??

Ive ordered the speed bleeder pn:SB7100S, and attempted to install but it just didn't tighten all the way down. I then compared it to the oem bleeder screw and found out the thread pitch is way off.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I just ordered the same P/N: SB7100S (M7 x 1.0), wasn't planning to install until the weather warms up a bit but interested to know if these are correct or not.

Thanks

I'm just about to order a set as well. Speed Bleeders list that part number as the correct number. Anyone with a parted out bike have a spare caliper they can pull the bleeder from?

I just went outside and looked at the bleeder and it does look like it would be an M7. My old n/a 3000gt had rear brake calipers that used the same sized bleeder.

The thread pitch is the issue, it might be a M7x1.25 rather then an M7x1.0 as listed on the order. I am having that issue with my ducati, standard banjo bolts are M10x1.25/1.50 but I have M10x1.0 and had to have a set made by Pro Bolt. If I decide to bleed the brakes later today to flush the line, I will pull the bleeder and measure the thread pitch.

M7x1.25 would have a super fine thread pitch. Not sure if that's the case. Perhaps the OP just cross-threaded his bleeder?

Pitch is distance between crests. 1.25 pitch is coarser than 1.0.

sorry my mistake the thread pitch isnt WAY OFF its a little off

if you look at it the oem thread its coarser, so they may actually be m7x1.25

Also i didnt cross thread it some how suprisingly because i swapped out the speed bleeder with the oem bleeder after i found out it wouldnt tighten, it would screw in all the way the down but would just continue to spin and not tighten. But the oem bleeder screw tighten right back up and i continued on changing my brake fluid

is it possible it should be an M8x1.25?

I found this website that has custom bleeders that say they're M8x1.25.

I just bled my brakes (Motul RBF 660 ) - traditional method of push the lever and open the bleed screw did NOT work.

Got a syringe and connected it to the 3/16" tubing I had connected to the bleed valve and I was done in 2 minutes....just sayyin' there is no need for a speed bleeder in my opinion. Clear tubing and a $3AU plastic syringe....

That's a good method for sure. There's no need for a speed bleeders... ever.

testing in progress

Hey guys just wanted to let you know that I had ordered a set of the SB7100S bleeders for my '09 and hadn't opened the package when I stumbled on this thread. I emailed and called speed bleeder and talked to them, they are sending out a set of SB8125L bleeders to me today so I can try both. I will get back to them on which ones work and they will hopefully update their size listing for the 250. I found this thread on another site:

http://www.250r.net/forum/showthread.php?t=625

where a guy says Nissin makes our calipers and not Tokico. This would explain the difference in thread pitch since unfortunately there is no manufacturer logo on our calipers, presumably speedbleeder just figured the 250 had the same as most other kawi bikes.

A speed bleeder has a spring loaded ball, so when the pressure against the ball is dropped, it closes the bleeder for you. I use the syringe method when flushing the brake lines, but like speed bleeders when you get a soft lever after the pads start wearing in or you build up air from over heating the fluid.

So what ended up happening here? I was thinking of ordering some of these since I was finally going to get around to trading out for stainless steel lines, and they sound convenient, but I don't want to order the wrong size. Searching the internet, it seems like some people are fine with the SB7100S, but I think those are being used on the old gen. Any update?

Sorry, I won't be able to tell you much. I looked at my pads again this weekend and they still have a lot of life left in them. I won't be changing fluid or pads for a while. Hopefully, one of the other guys got around to do it.

Alright everyone got some new info on the speedbleeders,

our new gen ninjas went from tokico calipers to nissin calipers(old news) which they both use different size bleeders screws
Tokicos (old gen) used M7x1.0 thread bleeder screws while the nissin (new gen) use M8x1.25

I've contacted speed bleeders about our issue and they have actually ubdated their application charts to note that nissin and tokico bleeder screws are different.

They have great customer service so much so that their sending me the correct size hopefully to be received in the next couple days minus all the snowstorms on the mainland (sorry guys lucky i live hawaii =P)

So as soon as i receive them i'll install them and finally put the speed bleeder issue to rest.

I thought I'd post up on this thread that for the 2012 (which I understand to be correct for the '08-'12) N250, the SpeedBleeder is the SB0125L. I got my two from an eBay vendor (no connection) Kirby's Motorcycle Bleeders. Fast service, good price, and very reasonable shipping. If you order together with a bud or for more than one bike, it gets really reasonable. Best bang for the buck mod in the world.
