so who's responsible when it hits something?
Owner say, "but I wasn't driving". Insurance say, "BMW isn't on our policy" BMW say, "not me!" legal battle ensues. Eventually, BMW say, "recall!" |

Isn't it just an extension of the cars that can already park by themselves?
Just a marriage between those and the self driving cars. Insurance is going to have to figure it out quickly.

i believe nevada is the furthest along with the legal stuff and if i remember right anything your automated car does, you as a driver have taken responsibility. because you pushed the button that commanded it to go pick you up, or go park. you issued the command, you are culpable for any consequences.

I SO want one of these plates for my bike. ROFL
They issue a red one during testing, green comes after everything has been approved.

Unfortunately, given that the Northern Nevada college team is the Nevada Wolf Pack, any variant of the word "wolf" is already taken. I was trying for different languages even trying to find something.
When I ordered my new plate I really tried to get something with Wolf. Alas, no.

Anyone ever read the short story "Sally" by Isaac Asimov? It's about self-driving cars/ Despite the fact that robots/AI today isn't anything like what Asimov thought it would be (Father of robotics my ass) it still has some relevance today.

gimme 35 minutes and the system will be back online. I'll check then.
Nevada is weird, 0 (the number) is not permitted as the font used makes it look like O (the letter). So "250R" is actually 2 5 Oscar Romeo. For the standard plate, seven alphanumeric characters are allowed. For the motorcycle plate, six characters are permitted. On the specialized plate, if a large graphic is on the side, it takes two spaces. So the maximum is Standard = 5, Small = 4.

It's too long for the Sesquicentennial plate I want. 5 characters.
LUPA is not available but LUPUS is, looked it up last night. The trouble is if someone Googles it to learn what it is, the entire first page is about the disease. Here: https://dmvapp.nv.gov/dmv/vr/plateav/PlateAV_Input.aspx

A nice gift!
Prettywife is in Anchorage. (Just texted saying she'll likely catch flight back home in an hour). No nuggets for me. But not my birthday. |
