Question What are your motorcycling goals?

What are your goals in motorcycling, short term and long term?

Are there special places you want to ride? Tracks you want to race on? A certain bike you aspire to?

In my case, I hope that this is the year I finally do a 1000 mile ride in 24 hours. Long term, I hope to tour as many of the 48 states as I can, and spend some meaningful time experiencing Canada.

How 'bout you?

short term, get to the track and improve my riding while hopefully killing my urge to speed on public roads while simultaneously becoming better and safer at it should I decide to.

long term, live life and enjoy it as it comes. The same general philosophy transfers directly to riding.

This year and next, I want to spend more time on the dirt. It is entertaining with the bike moving around underneath me, and as people much more perceptive than me share all the time, it's that control that can then translate well back to both street & track. It's also fun that much of the family can be involved, as they aren't in most other motorcycling activities. I'll be doing one 1500+ mile 32-hr rally this year in June, so the goal is to successfully finish that and not embarrass myself in front of the other LD folks. With no GP at Laguna this year, I don't have any big race weekends planned, but we might end up going to the WSBK races there in the fall, if only for the day. Sold my trackbike last year, and probably won't get another one this year. But - I do hope to get back out there next year, and will likely pick up a dual-purpose bike that can be fun on the street & track (the S1000R calls, and the KTM SuperDuke intrigues, but probably would be better off with a street triple).

Short term goal is to get lessons so that I can pass the test and ride my gpx250 independently without a supervisor.

Long term the wife and I are keen to get her a bike so that we can tour around together. Can't wait!

Get as many people as possible out there with me. Friends, family, random people who compliment the bike. I've had people ask if they can ride on the back. I'm not comfortable going 2up yet and don't know if I ever really will. So, I always tell them "Wanna ride with me? Get a bike. We'll ride together"

Save as much gas money as I can by riding the ninja instead of driving my truck to as many Mtb races in the Western USA as possible.

As always put as many miles as i can on the 250 for both fun and to save cash on fuel. For this year, work on getting back in the dirt more and it is going to happen, found awesome riding area down the road from where we moved $125 for season pass With that said i want to get quicker in the tight woods trails and work on my enduro skills, rock/log hopping in particular and knock a few sick hill climbs off my list

On the street this year, would like to see a track day but i am not holding my breath. Need to work on looking further ahead of me in turns particularly, i think it is a problem i get from to much time in the dirt and being to focused on obstacles in front of me

long term... hit the track a handful of times during a season

Short Term - Get my ninja the way I want it and learn the ins and outs of maintenance. Get bikes under current friends, or new friends that come with bikes.

Long Term - Track days. A cruiser. Better (expensive) gear.

Ohh let's see, ride as much as I can, have a blast doing it, and make it home safely.

Short term, I've got a few LD rides planned. Cross country tour, maybe a few SS1Ks in-state for CA, OR, UT, etc. get at least one track day in this year now that there are dates for the local track.

Long term, continue adding IBA certificates to my wall, figure out a way to improve comfort, maybe get a cheap dirt bike or moderate enduro to get some real dirt riding in.

Mostly, make it home safely after each ride.

For a long time I've been reading the posts on ADVrider and Horizons Unlimited. I've done some lengthy motorcycle road trips in places like Australia or India, but my big ambition is to take a year or two to ride from North America down to Tierra del Fuego and back.

All it will take is lots of time and money....

Here's a guy who rode from the US down to Peru on an old $1500 Ninja 250:

what will you think of your life, looking back from your death bed?
would you rather see a cautious and scared life of hiding from dangers?
or would you prefer an adventurous journey filled with fun and love that you can be proud of?

every term- enjoy my life and the people close to me as much as i can while i still have time here.

-Stay alive/retain cognitive and motor skills and all my body parts
-Work on reinforcing a better reputation for people who ride in the eyes of non-riders
-Help people fix their bikes
-Get more people into riding
-I already accomplished my goal for the year which was to finally ride a 600
-Get a bike, because as of 1hr from now I won't have one cause it's getting totaled
-Become more comfortable braking hard and leaning further
-Cause as many drivers as possible to raise their awareness of motorcycles and change their behavior to actively foster safer roads for bikers
-Meet more ninjetters!
-Have fewer arguments with non-motorcycle-people about whether or not motorcycles are a path to certain death

Nothing is cheating. Nitrous is fuel class. All motor is Gas class. Your bike with 40 hp will not go 125. The 500 ninja has more than 40 and can't go 125. One with 60 hp went 124.6 mph in Ohio.

Did you get 40 hp from your motor? I am excited to get my bike to the dyno.

learn as much as i can from the ninja and then pick up something along the lines of a sv650, fz6, ninja 650r while saving up for a cbr650f ABS.

Rode a 2012 CBR600RR for the first time over the weekend. I can handle the power, just not the body positioning.

Not crash, have fun, get faster at the track. In that order.

Long term, idk. Enjoy my time on the bike. I won't be using forever, I just want to be able to look fondly on my time on two wheels.

My goal is to become a better motorcyclists so I can move up to a bigger bike so my wife and can log a longer range together. I am not that far from ashville. Some really beautiful placs to ride and enjoy.
