Question Ignition switch replacement

Hi I have an 07 ninja 250. I had my key stolen off my bike during a break in and never had a new one cut. I have since started to restore my bike and I’d like to replace the ignition switch, helmet lock and get a gas cap as well I’ve seen whole sets selling on Amazon for 08 and up. Will I encounter problems trying to use these?

Most likely you will need to add a resistor to the ignition in order for it to start.

It will crank, but not start if it's not in place. Almost all the aftermarket ignition switches don't have it for some reason.

I've not personally done it, but there are threads here with more info. I think DannoXYZ has posted some specifics about it.

You can have a new key made, by getting the key code off the back of one of the helmet locks and then go to https://keys4urride.com/ They make perfect replacement keys, and I've used them many times.

Be sure to apply some heat to the screw because of the red loc-tite.

That would be a better solution.
