pregen chain problem?

Hi,
today after I cleaned and readjust my chain slack, I noticed the chain is tight at some spot and loose at some when I was spinning the rear wheel, is this normal??
also, attached a video of my chain running. It doesn't seem smooth and wobbling up and down instead, again Im not sure if this is normal or not, just checking in case it is then I will try to fix before doing any damage to the bike

Thanks!

Did you adjust the tension at the tightest spot? You need to spin the wheel and find the tightest spot - that's where you need to set it.

A large difference means either a link in the chain is seized or damaged or there is uneven wear on the sprockets. There will almost always be some difference, even with a new chain and sprockets, but if it's excessive you need to replace the chain and both sprockets. Just replacing a chain, if you have worn sprockets, will not usually cure the problem - and will wear your new chain very quickly.

Here's a video from Canyonchasers that covers chain adjustment - http://www.canyonchasers.com/video/chain.php

A basic check of chain/sprocket wear test is to pull on the chain at the farthest rear point of the sprocket. If you see more than 1/2 of the sprocket tooth there is too much wear. If there's any amount of hooking on the sprocket teeth the sprocket is junk.

Re-adjust the chain and see how much additional slack you get at the loosest point. Off the top of my head, I would say if it's more than 50% additional you'll need to plan on replacing at least the chain - assuming the sprockets look good.

Best is to always replace the chain and sprockets together.

The service manual will have a section on Drive Chain Wear Inspection showing how to determine if the chain has stretched too much.
