Starting Issues

Hello. So glad I came across this site. been browsing for a few days now learning as much as I can and hopefully contribute back one day. I have a problem and hopefully someone can help. its for an 09

my bike wont start I am assuming its somehow related to a tilt sensor if this bike has on. i had to lay the bike down on its side in the back of an suv to transport it home from where it was bought. fuel leaked and i had a headache the rest of the day from the smell.

first the engine did not crank so i figured it was flooded. i removed the spark plugs and let the engine turn over. fuel shot out of the holes. next i replaced everything and went to start her up. she turned over but still wont start. i do not hear the fuel pump going and i am assuming this is because it was laid on its left side during transport. there still fuel in the tank and the gauge reads about 1/4 to 1/8 tank.

so does anyone have any ideas on what i can do next?

Thanks! Mikkel

sounds like the bike is flooded.

hold the throttle wide open with the choke off and hit the start button. Try it a couple of times and see if that clears the excess fuel out of the engine.

Since you did lay the bike down, it may be that the float(s) in the carb(s) are stuck in the wrong position. When the float bowl is full, the float shuts off the flow of fuel into the bowl (when operating correctly).
