9645, no real issues other than a e-clip on my jet needle broke on my way back from Deals Gap, but that had nothing to do with the bike more of an issue with the factory pro jet kit.

Yes, if treated fairly and not run under a car or against a solid object, the Ninjettes can roll over a bunch of miles:
http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/How_lon...engine_last%3F I know of a pre-gen that reached 100K miles and is still ticking. Here you can find the status of some at the beginning of this year: http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showt...t=mileage+year

Ninjas are very tough and durable if properly cared for. The most most mileage I've heard of is over 80K miles( a bike now owned by LSR champion and Ninjette forum member Racer X).
I have over 38K miles on my streamlined pre-gen. Alan Smith has 50K on his streamliner. Both bikes are still running strong and very competitive in the Vetter fuel economy challenges. |

Approaching 24K on my 2012 Ninjette. Hoping to see the odometer roll over a few times so really wanting to keep her heart ticking along.

Alan and Vic's ninja do have high mileage but they're always going for high milage so they baby their motor a bit I think. I've got 32k on my bike(all me) with 6 hard(rojo paced) days at the track, lots of hard canyon miles that are nearly as hard as track pace plus three 1600 mile trips SoCal and back. When I go to LA I take the super long canyon way and make a 350 mile trip into a 600 miles trip but there still a few long strait section and ill have the bike between 90-100 for 10-20 mins at a time and handles everything I've thrown at it just fine.
My bike is still the most responsive 250 I've ridden and probably one of the fastest with a stock motor. My valves only needed adjustment once at 10k and since then they been within spec so far. Gas mileage is still mid 50s which is great for my hwy/canyon commute and after market exhuast. If I get 60k I'd be happy and more then that and I'd feel greatful. So just maintain the **** out of it and it will last you a long time. |

According to the wiki they have a typical life of 50-60k?? Disappointing imo. I would like (and expect) more out of mine, and for someone to give up just because of a cam chain tensioner is disappointing. Heck on my cbr cct's are like tires! Well not quite but that's a multi-hundred thousand mile engine if you perform maintenance, there are a couple dude's on the cbr forum w/ 2-300+ thousand miles w/o a total rebuild.

I think it's fair for a 250 to only get 60k as an average life span. It's not like a much larger bike that doesn't need to be revved like hell all the time. Plus 2 cylinders probably experience somewhat different wear than 4s.

62,147.1 miles as I type this. Had to replace the motor around 58K because the PO may have run it low on oil due to a faulty repair. I got the bike at 2K back in 2009. Other than a couple sets of tires and three chains and sprocket sets it's been pretty low maintenance. Carbs haven't been cleaned since 2K, wheel bearings are original, the head set and swing arm bearings have been done once (and didn't need to be), oh, and 6 sets of grips. I've painted it twice to change colors, but that's not really maintenance.

I bought my 03' last year with 3k miles and now have 11,500 with no problems at all. Changed to synthetic and cleaned the carb out when I got it. I still need to do the first valve adjustment but I live in an apartment and they frown on working on vehicles here. All the shops around here charge too much to do it....just a matter of finding a place to do it. I might rent a storage unit and juat do it there.

I have 16,375mi no major work done. One fork seal went bad but it lasted 12k. I left her parked once for 6 months while I was deployed(didn't have time to prep it for storage), my ex-wife started it up once. When I got home she didn't want to light up, so I pushed her up the hill and rolled down and forced her to rumble to life. She's never let me stranded or thrown on the ground. Knock on wood!

I believe I own the highest milage 250 ninja. Its a 1988 owned and ridden by Bill Hoddinott. it is currently in perfect condition showing 139000 documented mikes. It had had two engines and I did a restoration on it . But there is really nothing wrong with it. Makes a little noise in the clutch basket.

Shell Rotella every ~4000 miles Valves checked every ~7500 miles Uh, other than that, the only thing done to the motor was the shop replaced the valve cover gasket earlier this year 'cause it looked like it was starting to weep a bit of oil. Just got the bike back from another valve service and no mention of more weeping.

Nvm thought you mean't speed.
I'm at 13k miles now, got my bike last October at 2k. Make sure you do your valves and change your oil. AND PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO LUBE YOUR CHAIN, I see motorcycles parked at my university all the time with rusted chains. I sometimes put stickynotes on their windshields telling them to lube their chain. |

I'm at 95k miles on my '89 Ninja 250, unfortunately not on the original engine though. There's another guy with a 2008 Ninja 250 over on advrider.com that's just went over 80k on his. Possibly the newer ones have a better engine/top end in them, most likely.

So it's safe to say that a Ninja 250 engine won't last more than 60,000-90,000 miles, right? Everyone with these high mileage bikes isn't on their original engine so it doesn't really count.

There is some incredible mileage recorded in this thread. I've had it hammered into me by Honda fans that my Kawasaki is due to expire at any moment while their Hondas will live on for all of time!
I wonder how the life of a baby ninja compares to that of say the ER-6F or the ZX-10R. |

I took the original engine with 80+90 k on it. I could not fund anything wrong with it. The owner reported a knock.I suspected the can chain tensioner. But yes 90 k is about what would be a long life.. 30-40 will
Probably require some work. |

lol your ninja is a baby. I'm kicking 23,000 with no issues.
Keep it maintained and tuned up and it'll run double that and more. You don't see too many "high" mileage ninjettes because they get totaled easily by mostly new riders before they've served their true useful life.
