Rattling noise in engine

So my bike made a rattling and banging noise. I adjusted the valves and the banging noise is gone. But this painful rattling still persists. Does anyone have any idea on what is causing this noise?
Here's a clip of the sound it's making: https://eroshare.com/ugx2kf6n

That noise is not normal !!!

It seems something is very wrong with the time chain, guides, tensioner or sprockets.

Did you measure the elongation of the chain while the cover was off?
Did you clean and lubricate the tensioner?

I would not let that engine work until correcting the problem.

It's hard to tell from the video, but is the engine stuttering and missing when it's making the noise?

I would take a long screwdriver and put the blade end on different spots on the engine while placing your ear on the handle end. That will help you isolate where the noise is coming from.

From the video it sounds like it may involve the clutch, but there are numerous possibilities. A faulty cam chain tensioner, as Motofool mentioned, would also be a good place to look.

Okay so I'll check the chain tensioner, guides, and sprockets. Also, I feel like if I run the engine any longer, my engine will have other damage.

So, is the engine stuttering or missing when it's making the noise or is it running smoothly the entire time?

Oil is good and up to the proper level? Oil light goes off immediately on start-up and doesn't come on again?

Engine seems to be running fine. Just hear that painful rattling noise. I usually turn off the engine pretty quick because the rattling gets louder. (But I am running the choke).

Oil level is at the proper level. And I can't really say anything about the light because I only have a speedometer, nothing else.

From that video and not being there personally, it sounds like the cam chain. You adjusted the valves so you may want to take the cover off and be sure that the timing is correct, and that you reset the tensioner properly. Triple check.

Almost sounds like it's got a couple things going on there. Among the rattles I thought I also heard the clutch basket noise.

Does the noise change when you pull in the clutch?

Don't know if this is relevant or not, but mine was making a really bad scary sound upon moderate to heavy engine braking.

I cleaned and reset the CCT, but after a few days it did it again. So I decided to just replace the CCT with a new one, haven't had the problem since.

For whatever it's worth.

I checked the timing after the valve adjustment, but I'll check again to be safe. Thanks for the reminder.

I actually haven't tried listening to the engine with the clutch pulled but I'll try if there is a difference later today. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah, I'm currently in the process of cleaning/resetting the CCT. Already have it cleaned. Just need to install it back. Hopefully it does the trick. Thanks for the input.

So pulling the clutch doesn't effect the noise.
I also cleaned and installed the CCT which seemed to not have had no effect.
I'm going to try and check the timing and whatnot tomorrow, but maybe not because I had a bad fall on my skateboard. But it definitely sounds like a cam chain issue.
My engine seems to be running 100% fine, no stutters, turns right on etc. But I only hear the tapping noise.
I read somewhere where the guy said it was just a few stones in his exhaust. So I'm going to check that first. Just in case.

So I did everything I possibly can do. With no luck. So I just ordered an engine off ebay and just going to perform a simple swap. And going to sell my old engine on craigslist.
Thanks for the help everyone.

Heck, now you have the opportunity to dissect your old engine, find the problem, and correct it at your leisure, and have either a spare engine, or a much more valuable one to sell. The side benefit is the experience you'll gain.

Your call, I've always said these engines aren't worth rebuilding, I compare them to BIC lighters, disposable! The time, money, parts, and labor involved, just isn't worth it IMHO.

They are plentiful and cheap, and easily changed out.

Sell it, do an R.D.I., use it was a flower pot, etc....

Good luck, hope the replacement engine is solid.

One quick question before I go on my merry way.
Do I need to drain the oil before removing the engine?

Shouldn't need to.

I guess I would have started by pulling the clutch cover and looking at that area, just to see if there's something obvious. Sounded like something clutch related from the video to me.
