They dgaf.

And neither does anyone else.

Except for me. Nice hooligan bike! Now you can run from cops by jumping stairs and veering off the side of canyons all while doing a wheelie. And 400ccs is just enough cubic centimeters to make a road trip to socal

You know we'll be down. Hit us up when you get here! Making fun of you to your face will definitely be way more fun than being limited to doing it over the interweb. I'm way more offensive when you can see the hand gestures and cold hard facial expressions

Oh, but if you aren't going to be on your bike, then.... well.... I'm also going back to idgaf mode

ha yes the bike will unfortunately not be able to make it down. I have to haul my wife and sister down, then them all plus my kid back up. But still we should all meet up cause Id like to at least see all of YOUR bikes! Besides youll see mine when you come up to thunderhill! Ill ride it out there as long as I am free!

Sorry been working all day!

So jealous! Can't wait to hear more about the bike. And get some input on it from you. I would love to get a DRZ400sm as my next bike.

I am glad everything worked out with your trade.

Is the front tire mounted in the right direction? The tread pattern looks a little strange. (there should be a few arrows on the tire sidewall pointing in the right rotation direction)

Kind of funny you say that Alex, only because I was with a buddy a few weeks ago when he was getting new rubber mounted on his VStrom 1000 and the guy who did it but his on that way. And had a good laugh when we said hey you put the front on backwards...apparently that is how they are supposed to be.

ha dude I know. My buddy couldnt get over how clean it was for how many miles it has (14,525 on the Odometer!)

Gel seat has already been ordered. I cant touch unless I wear my work boots right now and thats not good. lol so a gel seat will lower it an inch.

A graphics kit will probably be all after that. Then some new gear. New helmet, and jacket. MAYBE some boots. idk we will see. I like my SMX5s fine so prolly not new ones.

OKAY!

so first week of having it. (wait has it been a week) So far I love it. Some things a first noticed. The vibration. I was NOT used to that, but as of now I have learned to deal and it doesnt bug me anymore. Ive already put almost 100 miles on it in the last few days. Which is pretty remarkable as I currently still dont have my gel seat (im short :/) and im being a squid and riding around with no jacket (I sold mine and havent received its replacement yet!)

Things I love.
The torque... oh so torqueeee while not as much as the 450 I got rid of this thing is still a beast and I am currently WAY to scared to try and launch it and or wheelie it. Someone told me today dude just pop the clutch... WOW. I do not what to flip it on myself. Ive been watching youtube videos that teach how to wheelie, but im not gonna practice until I take it to a field at my dads and get my gear.

Things I dont like.
Top speed. It says it has a top speed of a whopping 85 MPH and I have gotten it to 95 INDICATED so im sure thats probably pretty accurate. And seriously. Thats all shes got. But dont get me wrong getting there is a lot of fun as I have to lean way forward just to keep my front tire down...

anyways Ill update this randomly for people who care and are looking at possibly going the SM route instead of the SS route

Ill also get my wife to snap some pics soon, hopefully this weekend with her new lens I bought her for mothers day

I believe Alex is right, the tread is supposed to lead the water away from the tire, not to the centre of it...

crazy you noticed that Alex

I want your bike! I have been looking for a SM/dual sport for a while but haven't found one to buy. I am always just a few days to late. I called about a Yamaha WR250R that was listed on the local CL but he sold it the day before I called. I wish I had seen the ad sooner. The bike was so nice. And had less than 1000 miles. And then I found a Honda Crf230M on a local Honda dealers website but when I went to see if they still had it, it was already sold.

SO now I have given up. Summer is the worst time to look for a used bike.

I will be keeping my ninjette for at least another year.

why? thats the correct rotation. I was reading sometimes the fronts look like they should be turned around even though they are right. anyways I have never not trusted my front tire. Its always the back one that slides out on my and according to my SM forum, thats normal and you gotta ride with it. Scary but fun.

here is a picture of the rotation arrow for you guys.

d

and here is another SM rocking similar tires. Notice his tread as well.
