Ninja 250 naked / streetfighter

I’d like to remove my front / side fairings and put something similar to the Acerbis Vision headlight kit. Problem is that it’s not DOT approved. I’m worried about the cops busting me. Has anybody done this before? Please let me know if you’ve had any encounters with the police because of it.

Also feel free to suggest some really cool looking headlight kits and a digital guage cluster.

FYI – I didn’t crash my bike. I just much prefer the look of a naked bike as oppose to a racer and the fairings vibrate which is really irritating.

Thanks and ride safely!

As far as guages, Koso is the only one I know of, but they have a few different ones from what I have read.

For your project, do a google search for ninja 250 streetfighter, there are quite a few examples out there and even a good amount of project threads on other forums.

I took a look at the headlight you mentioned and I have seen a few of them used on dirt bikes which are street legal. Whether the headlight itself is legal, I'm not sure, but they are used on the street.

Think you would be OK, Most cops wouldnt know. There are some out there thou...... Just dont bring attention to your self! Like run some odd color bulb or Hid's, or run with a 100w bulb in somebodys face.

Remember also, that hids are illegal in vehicles that didnt come stock with them... anything over 4300K is illegal & 100w bulbs are too. < So use those, and one day you might pay the price

Anyways, think Iam rambling

I think Hella has a great big DOT approved high/low fixture that you might be able to work with. I know they have apporved HID assemblies that are approved to be added to kit cars or modified cars (yes for on road use, and includes real BiXenon fixtures with servos).
