Ninja 300 Lucky Lowside
"Lucky" because neither he or his bike hit any of those solid metal objects either side of him

I can't tell exactly what caused the crash from the vid, but I did notice these things... If you look at the reflection of his arms in his wing mirrors, you can see his elbows poking out. Small sign that he could have been a bit stiff on the bars not allowing the bike to self correct if the wheels passed over any bumpy/slippy road surface. I also couldn't see or hear any throttle role on throughout the turn. If anything, I think the bike was still decelerating after his roll off potentially overloading the front tyre. His line through the turn was pretty awful. I don't think he put any thought into it. What do ya think? |

Gravel/sand/salt? He started to slide out the moment he hit the lighter spot on the road.

Besides, it seems to me that he was on the front brake when the front contact patch slid.

he washed out the front by overloading it. no gas means all the weight is on the front. continuing to lean further and further over ****** road with crap tires while not really knowing how to be smooth on inputs means the front gets overloaded. if he had given any kind of gas at all or knew how to properly turn a bike he would not have crashed.

and in fact in the slow mo replay you can see the extra angle change after the fact that causes the front to start sliding. don't make a bunch of little corrections after the fact.

Glad he and the bike are okay, it makes me feel good to see that at least a few people get lucky occasionally.

well, that was one of the luckiest crash videos that I've ever seen. He couldn't have been on the front brake but he could have been on the rear/rolling off either way he was decelerating a bit. In addition to that he corrected a bit forcibly mid corner just before he lost it and was stiff on the bars. Overall it looks to me like the front washed out and the rest followed so I'm going to put it down to the deceleration bit mostly.

His line was ******, but I think a more 'correct' line would have led him into that oily/dark spot. Also, how can you tell he wasn't giving it gas? He had constant RPM the entire time...
