World Cup

Germany, the wrong team showed up, lost and owell. Any truth to the rumor that the spanish ref was pissed at the fact that Spain lost and was taking out on everyone else.

USA, robbed.

England, stuffed.

I have to root for Argentina, since Brasil didn't do it for me, and Spain just sucked out loud.

Go Mexico I say!

I just hope that poor bastard England goalkeeper doesn't get brutally beaten back home after that gaff in the England / US game.

Besides we import all the white stuff and they are way ahead of the Government when going green (the smokable green). They played rather well also. I wonder if that was from the white or green.

Not sure what you are saying there but being someone from French decent the Mexican team played a hell of a match and deserved the win!

They played great against France. France played terrible.

It must be tough living in "British Columbia" and being of French decent.

He'll be alright. Now if he was Colombian, he'd ask for political asylum. Google the last colombian goalie that f_cked up a world cup.

I'll help you out, it involves machine guns.

Not trying to hijack your post but you did open the door.
1) You have to remember that the South Western U.S. used to belong to Mexico.
2) If the U.S. did not have such a cheep labor force (that by the way I feel the authorities turn a blind eye to) the cost of your produce was be much higher.

Ok back on topic...
Mexico did play very well and the U.S. team is getting better with each progressive World Cup.

Germany very disappointing after they thumped Australia. I would like Australia to advance after the group matches like in 2006, but they're playing craptacular football. As for Spain losing, they shouldn't have in my opinion, having 20+ shots at goal while your opponent has only 8 and not winning the match is ... unthinkable. England on the other hand, I don't know what the hell is going on ... they have star players everywhere in their team yet they haven't seemed to gel together and worked well as a team. I do hope Argentina and France do well, but this World Cup has been full of upsets.

And did anyone see the Italian player's dive on the last match, I guess they're known for diving...

Heres the vid, many people are saying that he "cramped" up, but if that was true then why would he be yelling and screaming for a freekick.

Link to original page on YouTube.

He was actually a defender, but you are right about the fire arms.

As for France, I don't think anybody (other than a true Frenchman, and even then) wants to see them win, as one of their forwards had two blatent hand balls that led to the goal that sent them to the World Cup.

1) Don't get colonial on me Rick. You can change the ownership of many countries (many times) if you want to go back far enough.

2) Maybe we should have the same immigration laws as Mexico. I like Mexico and the Mexicans. I've been there many times and always enjoyed myself. However, that cheap labor force gets expensive when you have to add the total cost of illegals being here. I'll add that there is a lot blame to go around to businesses, govenments, and the people who cross over illegally. The problem has to be addressed and it has been put off far too long (the country is going bankrupted, thank you U.S. Congress).

Escobar special is airing next Tuesday night ( I think). It shows the two Escobars and what happened.

Rick, have you ever ridden the Natchez Trail?

As always very well said Oscar. I see you know your history very well. I agree with you that something has too be by the government of both sides of the border. The laws that are allready in place have to be enforced by both sides.

I have not ridden the Natchez Trail yet. It is on my very long to do list.

Now back to the World Cup, may the best team win.

This should be an interesting documentary. I believe its on ESPN at 9pm EST. One Escobar was the columbian defender who scored an own goal and then had a not so pleasant return to his country.

France won't move on from the group stage this year. Portugal looked very good today as well as Argentina in their two games. Brazil played much better their second game.

That's an understatement!

France is trying to steal the spotlight.

Ok, I have a questioin for all you (acutally both you) World Cup experts. What language do they use to speak to each other (different teams) and to the ref? With so many different languages how do you understand what is being said. How do you complain to the ref if he does't speak your language?

Where do the fans get the energy to blow those horns all game long?

I'm with Greece. I don't think we have chances to get to the next phase because we have to at least get a point with Argentina (wich is the best team in the cup for now ) and Nigeria must beat Korea...

At least we a won a game!

PS. I hate those horns!

Usually on club teams that have multiple nationalities, english is usually spoken or the player learn enough words of whatever country they are in.

For the world cup they obviously speak in their native language to each other and when it comes to yelling at the ref that is where a lot of hand signals and gestures come into play. If your really angry at the ref just swear in your language since by the rules they can't card you without completely understanding.

Well the U.S.A played their hearts out today but unfortunately they lost to Gahna. The game whent into extra time but they just couldn't come back and score again, both teams were just wore out. Final score was 2 to 1.

Tomorrow I look foward to watching Mexico against Argentina. It should be a very good game.
