Who has made homemade dog bones?

Hello all. I have a 2007 zzr 250. I thought it was lowered because the guy I bought it from said it was. But after I looked the bones seem stock (6" eye Center to Center). So only thing left to do is make shorter bones to lift the tail. How thick of steel should I use?

quarter inch by 1" wide is more than enough
