If you can remove the forks and drain/disassemble them before taking them to a shop it would be a lot less expensive than just bringing the cycle in and having them do the entire project.

Good God. If you go that far why not just grab the appropriate size socket and wack the new seals in?

if its easier than pulling out carbs, cleaning, and reinstalling them, then maybe I should suck it up and have a crack at it.

finished cam phasing and putting top end together. getting to measure carb dimensions for velocity stack price quote.

If you haven't purchased stacks yet, I'd recommend a different more effective design...

As with every type of manufacturing, you have to balance costs-of-production vs. performance-results. In this case, I believe they have compromised performance for ease-of-manufacturing.

For the effort, you can get decent performance. The bellmouth shape is most critical area of the stacks.




Angle of the tube also contributes tremendously and you'll want a 7-15 degree taper. Between 0-7 degrees is a no-mans-land with no benefits. The heyday of velocity stacks were in the 60s with GP Ferraris. For same amount of time and effort that you're going to expend, might as well get most out of it.

I suggest an elliptical bellmouth with at least 180-degree rollback and 10-15 degree taper. And made from stainless steel for much better heat-insulation than aluminium. I try to keep as much heat out of the intake-air as possible. You'll want bellmouth about 2x diameter of inlet.

Yep, gsxr 600 2006-07.

Looks like the hardest part of the conversion will be figuring how to prop up the bike.
