Back again after nearly a year...

and a lot has happened in that time....First, I finally blew the engine on my bike at just over 103,000 km's or almost 65k miles. The bike had a good run and still looked great but I literally put a crack in the bottom end of the engine case and I was lucky I didn't go down when it locked up.

To be honest I probably should have stopped riding because I knew something was off but at that mileage I was just ready to go til it blew because I wasn't going to spend any money fixing it. My mechanic buddy knew a guy who had a crashed 250 with 20k miles on it and got me that engine for $300 CAD roughly $225 US. PLUS a spare rear shock, swingarm, carbs, plug boots, engine mounts (old ones were bent and I had no clue) and a bunch of spare bits and bolts. To do the work he charged me $600 so for less than $700 US I had my bike up and running again. This happened in October...

I knew the bike had a HARD life with all the fast paced redline after redline rides I put it through always chasing the big boys. It owed me nothing, I've had it since brand new and it never let me down so I owed it the transplant to give it a new lease on life BUT I knew after 7 years it was time for an upgrade.

I looked far and wide for a good condition unmolested 09-12 ZX6R's and Daytona 675's in red only but could not find a decent example. It HAD to be red and that was the hard part, in fact I've been very disappointed with Kawasaki for not having released any supersport bikes since 2012 in red other than the ZX14.

What I ended up with was something I thought was still beyond my reach...a 2016 959 Panigale. The thing is an absolute beast and compliments the 250 so well, I just got it in October and only got a few rides on it before it got cold but can't wait to get out in hopefully a month or so.

I'm still keeping the 250 as my commuter because I love it so much and got so attached to the damn thing over the years. What an absolute baby beast of a bike it had been putting up with such hard use over the years. I always kept it well maintained though and showed it lots of love. That's why I eventually made it back here, the forum is just such a good resource for someone who likes to know their bikes inside out.

and pictures of course...

the crack...

the 250 was always way out of its league on my rides but we were never far behind...chasing down 200hp monsters with barely 25

the new girl

No, but a buddy of mine does/did. He just sold the Aprilia to another buddy who was riding with us that day. Dude is legit loaded, these are just his two wheeled toys amongst various others.

The AMG bike is a limited edition MV Agusta F3-800RC. I don't speak Italian either but wish I did!

Wow! At first I thought the pic of the odometer was about to turn 1000,000 miles but still 65,000 miles is very impressive.
