Most memorable riding experience or moment?

What is one of your most memorable riding experiences or moments? Just something specific that stands out as really special that made you want to continue riding or racing? Doesn't have to be outstanding, just something that you remember as being important.

I have 3 that tie..

1. My first 86 degree summer night ride (20+yrs ago). Clear skies, lovely stars and moon and my passenger to enjoy the cruise. It was that night, I realized I would ride the rest of my life.

2. The little things that happen with friends on and off track (hard to pick just one), honestly... some of the best times I have ever had around bikes has been in the paddock after the track day is over. Good food, good friends, good laughs and good nights sleep under the stars.

3. My first time coaching, terrifying at first, but the reward at the end of the day was worth everything I kept hidden. To accept the self inflicted burden of responsibility for another's safety is not for everyone.

/close 4th - My first time winning a race. I asked myself, did that just happen?
/close 5th - Draggin a knee in the wet. I thought I was crashing, but didn't.

- Feeling things "click" for real at Palmer Motorsports Park last year. The day I started dragging knee. It was a clear leap.

- Discovering how great friendships at the track are, thanks entirely to @csmith12, @Ducati999 and @Bigballsofpaint. Without these guys it wouldn't be half as much fun.

So many!

With out a doubt:

#1;
2 weeks "riding" };-> the virtually empty, smoothly surfaced and incredibly twisty secondary roads of South East Australia on a SV650S capped off with 2 days of California Superbike School on the Phillip Island Race Track.

#2;
2 Weeks adventure riding through Kenya on a Honda 250 Baja.

#3;
Being stuffed on the inside of turn 9 at Streets of Willow by little Peter Lenz. I was pretty sure my "knee was on the curb and dragging my elbow" but he popped through on his 250 like my bike was on stands! It was a humbling and an amazing moment I'll never forget!

I remember that clearly!!! He was so insanely fast!! Cool memories from everyone. Love these stories.

Here are a few of mine. The more I think about past riding adventures the more I remember so many good times. these are the ones that stand out the most.

First time turning a wheel on a race track with WMRRA "taste of racing". I just KNEW I had to race after that.

First time coaching with CSS, I thought "I can't believe I got my dream job!"

First AMA race sitting on the grid after making qualifying- the most exhilarating feeling ever.

Recently riding through the Alps and seeing some of the most spectacular scenery in the world.

The first few corners at Sachsenring circuit in Germany.

Riding with a group of CSS coaches and students at a dirt bike school in the mud and bashing bars and laughing out loud with mud in my eye.

AND, the first time I was able to ride with my 6 year old son on track and give him a few pointers and lead him around. So proud

Being a small child on the back of my father's CR500.

And then being a big child and taking my father for a ride on MY cr500.

It's seems I have come full circle. That bike is memorable. Everyone who has ever ridden or been near one while it's running will attest to that fact. POP POP POP and you can feel the thunder in your chest. Truly exhilarating.

Many...but most recent..on my Ducati, just last year, beautiful, sunny ride through the center of a town in the Hamptons (New York) .....

At a crosswalk, I extended a courtesy..thoughtfully stopped and yielded to allow an older, grey haired lady to cross...simply the right thing to do...we acknowledged each other with a quick wave...she then proclaimed .. "Nice bike!!"

I'm thinkin' jeez, even nice old grey haired ladies like Ducati's...put a huge smile under that Shoei.

Full circle. That's SO cool!!! My parents never rode so I couldn't share the riding experience with them. It's nice that my kids ride now

That movie along with "Wierd Science" and other odd movies helped shaped who I am today. And when I clean up, my wife tells me the Miami Vice look when out decades ago. lol
