DIY Bleeding Brakes - A new method

In my quest to upgrade my front brakes with a Galfer stainless steel line and a ZX-10R Master Cylinder (MC), I acquired a Vacuum Pump and accessories to help with bleeding the brake system.

For the past 40+ years, I have always bled brakes via the manual method, i.e. have someone pump the brake and hold it, while I tediously loosened/tightened the appropriate bleeder valve. Once I used the one-way (one man) bleeder valves, but they disappeared one day!

A few minutes ago, while searching for some info on bleeder valves, I came across ANOTHER technique for bleeding brake systems. Check it out here:

I'm willing to bet you had a leak from one of the bleeder valves. As kkim would say "Ask me how I know!"

are you referring to the speed bleeders or when using the other methods - I know of no leaks on the vehicles using the speed bleeders and see no signs of it. As for the other methods, I always use thread tape, and the brakes always get bled properly - it just takes a while

I was referring to the use of the mity-vac. Turns out the master cylinder bleed screw was leaking around the the threads. Without my vacuum, I would have never found that. I will use teflon tape from now on!!
