GPS power draw

So I bought a Garmin Nuvi 260 and a RAM mount to use on my bike, and the manual says the GPS has a 5 W max usage. I read that there are around 60W or so to play with as far as accessories go. I shouldn't have any issues, should I?

Yes, this might be a stupid question and I probably should have done more research before hand, but the damage (to my wallet) is done so I was just looking for some actual wisdom on the subject.

This is the particular GPS.

Any help would be appreciated. Also, if there are any well-written "how-to" guides to doing a 12v adaptor that'd be great.

You're OK, you'll have no issues adding a GPS to the electrical draw. I doubt it typically uses even that 5W, so you could put a whole phalanx of them on your handlebars if you felt the urge.

You can use my DIY as a start, then add a 12V adapter to one of the fused circuits.

GPS draw is milliwatts, less than 1w nominal.

So im pretty much a newb at wiring...well..anything. I was hoping to just add a 12v outlet to the accessory leads at the left of the front fork. Does it matter what gauge wire or what size/type of connectors i use? I think the waterproof plug im going to get from walmart has some wires already ready to go. Just need to figure out what goes where, really.

I was also considering just using some epoxy to essentially glue it under the left side of the gauge cluster instead of bolting it in. Thoughts? Oh, and would adding an inline fuse be a good idea too? TY if anyone gets to this.
