250 Superbike build

Can’t find a list anywhere of what’s allowed in next class up, 250 Superbike. So I figured I’d go all out. Picked up two more Ninja 250s. Pregen 2003 models. Came as bare frames and bikes-in-boxes enough to make 1.5 complete bikes.

I think I’ll put one back together as stock. And replicate this bike with 2nd one since I don’t have 2nd engine.

Hahahha yeah. Aiming for 45bhp right at 300lbs ready to race. Ninja 400 power and 75 lbs lighter!

Still might not be competitive though, those guys are 15-sec faster than me. Dave Moss is dominating with his ‘90s CBR250RR. That bike’s got better wheels, suspension, dual discs in front and probably 50bhp.

Yeah, I'll post the rebuild of stock one first. Right now it's just bare frame, engine was said to be in good condition, I'll do compression-test to find out before spending too much time installing it.

I'll also need a complete set of bodywork for 2nd bike. Anyone know if pregen or newgen body is more aerodynamic?

I've assembled one of pregen bikes-in-a-box. Engine went back together OK with ~200psi compression, so I'll use it as is. Need tank and get keys made. As far as I can tell, bike last ran about 2.5-yrs ago and then guy took it apart for whatever reason. Couldn't put it back together and started to part it out. Ended up being too much hassle and I picked up entire pile.

Carbs most likely gummed up. If I can't clear them out so it runs decently, I'll just remove all carb stuff and convert to EFI. Need some baseline maps for EFI and then it's TURBO!!

Next season, yea! He's always 1st or 2nd... but has about 5 guys nipping at his heels within 1-second! I plan on being one of those guys!!! He's also great about giving out tips on how to set up your suspension to beat him!

Got deal on pile of EX250 parts from MotoJava in S.SF. Pretty much everything I need to get street-bike back together along with some extras for race-bike. Gave me some good hands-on experience with each and every part of this machine!

Got two sets of clocks, but both have busted mounting posts. Luckily, broken post was laying in box, so I epoxied and C-clamped in place while it cured. Now can be mounted properly.

Also got keys made by Pop-a-lock Locksmiths. Brought in my helmet-lock and they read off key-code on back and was able to cut me set of keys that worked! Came home and tried out key on bike and ignition turned smooth as butter!!!

They didn't have spare wafers for tumbler of gas-tank lock (didn't come from this bike), so I'll stop by Toyota dealer this week sometime and get wafers that'll let me re-key gas-tank to match one key to rule them all!!!
