Never heard of a twist of the wrist. Have to check it out. I'm heading down center city tonight. More a$$ than a toilet seat down there.

twist of the wrist dvd is by superbike school founder keith code who also wrote the book of the same name on sport bike riding tips and techniques. very good stuff, highly recommended.

No real thoughts yet. My daughter and girlfriend are both out of town, so I figured I'd see what folks were up to.

I've taken a bunch of bikes to Manayunk Triumph for service. They may not be the cheapest out there, but they do good work. I'd trust them with any of my bikes.

^^ Thanks Jeremy; nothing's wrong with it - I just want to shim the needles and am not confident enough to tackle it myself.

I didn't jet. Just a couple shims. May even have enough washers left for you guys to use if you want 'em.

well i have a slip on aftermarket exhaust and im occasionally getting some pops, which ive read means im running lean and need rejet. also would like to ad hi flow K&N air filter and from what ive read i need to add jet kit first. i know i will get a lil extra HP out of doing so, which would be nice. im just new to all this and a bit wary of taking my engine apart. ive done some cosmetic and control mods myself, but the mechanical stuff still makes me a bit nervous. plus this is my everyday driver so i cant afford to screw it up and not have trans for any extended period of time.

Shimming is a form of rejetting, just not as involved. I have a 2 bros slip on and it helped mine warm up quicker and idle better. I also pulled the snorkel. If you're definitely doing the air filter an moving to a full exhaust, from what I've read, you should rejet. Otherwise, shimming might be all the rejetting you need.

That's how I understand it at least

I got mine at Manayunk Triumph. They threw a bunch in a baggie for me. No problems, so they must've been the right size. I was itching to get it done one Saturday and I didn't want to order a dollar worth of washers and wait for them to ship so I checked with them and got lucky.

Don't feel like quoting above posts, too lazy..lol

Yes shimming is a rudimentary form form of making your mixture richer. Adding an exhaust or pulling the snorkel will need shims. I believe it's 2-3 washers for an exhaust or removing the snorkel, otherwise your bike will be too lean. Of course I believe 2 works for most people, but each bike's factory mixture setting can vary a little. My friend's 250 runs a tad leaner than mine.

Yeah, I Went with two. It's not hard, but I didn't want to try one and then have to tear in and add a second.

I've been happy with mine. Definitely runs better in the midrange.

Notice a difference in fuel eco?

I've been wanting to do it, but laziness and other commitments have triumphed over me just spending a few hours and getting it done.

Not really, but I don't pay too much attention to mileage. Pretty broad estimates are that I'm getting about 50mpg, but I'm also pretty heavy on the throttle (and on the seat )

I did the shimming pretty soon after I got the bike, so I don't have a lot to compare with when it comes to pre-shimming.

ATTN Philly Ninjas Group Members

Hey guys and gals, if you are a member of the Philly Ninjas Group page and want to keep posted on group rides and events without having to check the group page daily then please subscribe to email notifications daily and you will never miss anything!

Our awesome forum moderator Alex informed me this is how it works:

The way that works is your group members need to subscribe to the group. It's in the bottom right of the groups page, called "Group Tools". Go to subscribe, and you have the option of no emails, daily emails, or weekly emails. Then when any group member posts up a note in that group, the people who have subscribed will get the notification in the frequency that they have asked for.

this is the link to the subscription page, just choose daily email notification and anytime a member posts something on the group page you will be notified:
http://www.ninjette.org/forums/group...ibe&groupid=15

anything related to our group can be posted and subscribers will always know what is going on.
