There's lots of choice now in the small displacement bike market.

Have you figured out what additional security measures you're going to use on the new bike (if any)?

That's why I was checking earlier on if you could get it started, see if the engine was toast too. Go check around probably can get a nice 300 or bigger. Just watch those insurance people, they love to jack your rates if they have to actually do what you pay them for to begin with.

Hey ya'lls, the [y0u] tag was my brainchild of mine from a while back. Feel free to direct any and all dislike of the feature my way. I guess ya'lls hate being tagged in FB posts too? ijs, It's not as bad you might think. Also, I have never seen Alex fault on executing the TOS, this is the internet, not everything one sees is unicorns and rainbows. To a certain level, yea... "just deal with it" comes into play but on the flip side there is being unfriendly to new members that is imho, bad form.

Like with many things in life, it can be used for both good and bad things. Honestly though, it's novelty as a trolling tool is 99% over and has been over for a long time. Since then, other members have used it many times in the way it was truly intended and aside of the stray new/old member that is derailed by seeing their member name unexpectedly, it's really not the problem everyone makes it out to be. Relax and laugh a little!

Maybe Alex can put one of those closeable notifications at the top of the page for new members so they are aware of the unique feature upon their first few visits.

@QuickSiR- Glad everything is sorted out for ya and good luck with your next bike. May it be forever safe and secure.

@fate - Good luck with the stairs problem. I put my 250 in the basement over the winter and have to go up and down a few stairs. My solution was to simply get more manpower and invite the neighbors over for a beer to help push and hold the bike up. Might I suggest a winch with a remote with some soft straps for the hook. Basically, drill a couple of holes in the pavement at the top of the stairs. With a few pins at the base of the winch, you can secure it to the ground easy enough and will provide all the pulling/holding power you need. Good luck!

EDIT: We have also used a "come along" to bear the weight of heavy objects up and down stairs. They are much cheaper than winches and just hook it on the hitch of a truck or any solid object.

I totally agree with that. I also think that just because we should develop a thick enough skin to tolerate the ugly, it doesn't mean we have to create the ugly.

IMO the you tag just creates ugly. It's more like agent orange than a rifle. A rifle can be used for good and bad. Agent orange... pure ugly.

(to those wondering what agent orange is... it's that nasty indiscriminate weapon they sprayed back in the Vietnam war.)

Yeah, personally I figured out the (you) tag in about 5 seconds, but I can see how others would not figure out what the heck is going on and get upset. It's just not funny seeing a new person trolled for the 100th time.

I must have missed something, where is the trolling? kris5495 asked, Cadd answered... there was no problem.
@akima - you can never be "to prepared". Wounds heal, holes can be filled in but perhaps the only thing more damaging than that is a hidden camera and a posted vid showing a thief in action. Reputations heal soooooooooooo slowly.

Without a repair estimate neither you or the insurance company can make a decision.
Also check the policy for clauses excluding riding it off the highway, which the stairs almost certainly are

Awesome! I was admiring one of those today in town. Out of the 10 bikes parked up, that caught my eye. I like the tail on those things. The one I saw had a nice after-market puig wind-screen.

Still love the new bike. Can't wait for the riding season to start. I did 12,000 miles on it last summer.
