Looks like it may be the rear brake switch.

First picture is the rear brake switch. Post a picture of your right footpeg. Specifically; we want to see if your footpeg is stock or if a "rearset" has been installed without the necessary design to hook up the switch. If it's not possible to connect then you must be sure to use your front brake so you will light up your brake light!
Second picture is the connector for your right front turn signal. And welcome to the forum and performance motorcycling!

Drain it and have a look at what comes out, but that doesn't look good.

Looks like you're taking on a hella project for your first sportbike!
Lots of info and help here though. If your at all capable of swinging a home mechanic wrench; it's a great bike to cut your teeth on. I do question the coolant tank: are you sure it's a 2011 bike? That is not a stock tank style judging by the tank bolt. And it looks like it's had a pretty hard life. Perhaps you have a Frankeinbike made up of whatever can be haywired on! Post a couple other pictures of the whole bike, shock, dash etc. It will help us when trying to figure out replies for you. Sorry; just reread and see it's not your first time wrenching.

No worries. It is my first sport bike, but I did rebuild my shovelhead harley fxr Last winter.
It's kind of Janky for sure, previous owner painted everything and did an extremely crappy job of it. Unsure of year for sure, any vin decoder available? I'll grab some more pics of the dash etc |

Cool! Gas in oil is an easier fix than coolant in oil.

VERY true lol. The petcock may have been left on previously, don't know how long it's been sitting. Still going to check the carbs. Also going to grab a manual for it, any suggestions? Clymer was garbage for my harley, is it any better for the ninja?

It could be leak from the pump, from head gasket or condensation due to long storage. Check the coolant for signs of oil and don't start the engine with that mix; rather flush it with oil a couple of times before a definitive oil/filter change.

Year in the VIN is noted by the 10th digit, here is a chart that decodes.

2011? Sheesh - what the heck did the PO do to that thing?
The initial signs are not good, but hopefully you'll find something simple causing the coolant in the oil. Best of luck bringing it back to life. This section may be helpful - http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Ninja250_Howto |

A trip of few miles with that emulsion could have partially damaged the main bearings of the connecting rods. If damaged happened, you could have seen some tiny flakes of bronze in the drained lubricant. I hope the engine is still good to serve well.

As for bronze shavings in the oil, I didn't notice any, but doesn't mean they aren't there. I noticed the oil pressure sensor wire is pulled apart, along with headlight clips. I love it when people don't take care of things |

Not that this helps any, but that's not a 2011. Its 08-10, the 11's and up had white face gauges. Unless it was just the SE's, but I think it was all models. Either way, that's the least of your worries, good luck!

OK - here in Denmark, I have a 17-digit VIN-#, and if I select digit 12 (A), I get 2010 model from above list. And how do I know it's a 2010 ? Well - greeen with a "seat beam" in black should only have been issued in 2010 ;o) It seems that US and Continental VIN's are different ? |

Yes - it looks like Europe has a slightly different setup. I tried to download the ISO standard for it, but it wasn't free.
