F1
Formula One in Malaysia seeing red.
I saw plenty of empty seats but it was a great race. The Kimster was full on. The two Jr. High (middle school nowadays) kids did great too. I hope the switch all the races to the far east. Getting up in the middle of the night to watch makes it that much better.

Bravo Ferrari!!!!
Great race, up and down the field. One thing the commentary team missed was a crucial radio transmission to Hamilton after that last pit stop, when he was saying the primes were the wrong tire choice. They said it it was either new primes or used options... making it the lesser of two evils. Tells me that the tire regs (mandatory compound change and limited supply) really can make for tougher strategy calls, and therefore more exciting and unpredictable racing. GREAT that it looks like we're not going to have a runaway season. Bet Vettel will look back on this as one of his all-time top drives. Good for him.

How about Kimi coming from a flat tire to fourth! That was phenominal! Those red cars are going to bring people back to F1.

Definitely a phenomenal race from Vettel.. Kimi was a beast hauling that car from the back of the pack to 4th place, too.. His luck has been crap so far this season, much like it was last year.. If he can shake the bad luck, Mercedes could be in for one hell of a fight, and we might see one of the best battles in a long time for both the driver's and constructor's championships..
I've been an F1 fan since the 80s, and was a huge fan of Minardi until their departure after the 2005 season.. I even got to sit in one of their cars at Indianapolis in 2001.. Toro Rosso is what Minardi became, so I've cheered them on since they came onto the scene in 2006.. Watching both Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz Jr beat the Red Bulls was awesome.. All of this talk from Christian Horner about how the Renault power plant is the problem is a bunch of crap.. It may be down on power to the Mercedes and Ferrari, but the Red Bulls got beat by their "junior team" with the same engine.. Seems to me that the car isn't as good as they think it is.. |

LOL... you must be a true optimist.
I vividly remember Vettel's first win at Monza, in the rain, for Toro Rosso. I was running around yelling "MINARDI WINS! MINARDI WINS!"

I did the same after that victory in Monza.. LOL!! The team remains in Faenza, and a vast majority of the personnel stayed in the transition from Minardi to Toro Rosso..
I doubt any team will ever capture the hearts of fans the way that Minardi did.. They were a fun-loving bunch who were endlessly proud of what they did with so little funding, and there were no curtains to hide their secrets.. They were eager to give fans access, when possible, to marvel at their masterpieces of machinery.. It was often said that they had some of the best designs in the paddock over the years, but a lack of funding didn't allow them to get the better engines that would have pushed them closer to the front of the field.. The thing I really liked is that, for the majority of their existence, Minardi steered clear of pay drivers, instead focusing on true talent.. Fernando Alonso, Mark Webber, Alex Zanardi, and countless others got their big break with "the little team that could".. |
