just installed Smoked LED tail light

so it arrived at patricks shop today and i went to pick it up right away~

thought it would be funny to make an animated GIF along the way.

and finally fully installed.

however i still need to get an electronic flash relay to make it work. if i hook it up to the normal turn signal lines the yellow turn LED just turns on, but does not flash.

will have to find ut how to get one around here, hopefully Patrick can find me one.

ill get the fender eliminator some time this week as well~

Woot!

looks great! I'm sure one of us over here can help you out with a flasher if you can't get one - it might take a while to get there though!

Nice work!

I'm surprised that it doesn't flash with the stock relay, considering that you have the stock flashers in and that the tail light has built in load resistors.

You did connect it properly right?

And if ever you do get a electronic flasher relay, make sure its rated at at least 30W.

the guy i bought it from will help out, he said that he forgot to give me something to make it work.

i plan to take out the stock blinkers once i get the fender eliminator, so then it will only be the LED blinker, and they don't flash on their own. when i hooked it to the oem relay, it only makes the ticking sound once and then stops, while with the standard blinkers its like a clock~ tick tick tick :P

ive read a fair few threads on this forum last year about ppl installing led blinkers and what they did, we should be able to get it working and if not ill have to dig around again.

anyhow, im not in a big rush as long as i still have the stock blinkers i don't want the led's to blink anyhow.

ill try and do a .GIF when i install the fender eliminator too, he he

went and got the fender eliminator today, but it wasn't quite as plug-and-play as the LED lights were. more of an Unplug-takeapart-measure-drill-possibly cut-put together-pray for the best-plug back together-and-play! rofl...

here you can see the old fender, and the new back light case and number plate holder. the fender eliminator case doesn't fit 100%, and will also require 4 holes to be drilled to fix it to the bike before i can mount it all back together...

i still need to buy some new nuts, bolts, and spacers...

hopefully it will all come together after all of this fiddle work.

i put the bike kinda back together for the time being~ so that its not sitting there totally dismantled, lol

from the side, yum yum, i'm so happy with the AreaP

and from the back

urgh, now it makes it quite noticeable that i need a bigger back tire to fill up all of that empty space, he he...

i live here in Bali, so some mods are easy to get here, and relatively cheap.

this fender chop i got from Patrick ( http://www.ninjette.org/forums/member.php?u=982 )

i paid around $47, which includes the metal number plate holder, and the black fiber glass back light cap thing.

i just took a pic of the semi installed fender eliminator, and later today i should be getting it totally fitted. will post the pictures once i get home.

maybe Matt ( ztrack157 ) get these to the US of A for you from Sportisi. Patrick had them sent in from Jakarta i think, and Sportisi is based in Jakarta.

peace out~

I love the taillight, where can I pick one up and for how much? I think it would look sweet on my new black ninjette.

yeah, you use the original reflector, you just have to take it off the OEM fender, and fix it to the bottom part of the metal bracket, its already the correct size rectangular plate, and has the holes in the right place to hold it in place.

i still had to clean the reflector when i took the picture above, so i didn't put it on yet.

but here is an update, i have it semi installed, still without the LED back light, cos i have to take it to Patricks workshop to drill out the holes in the fiberglass and install it.

makes the back wheel look small without the bulky fender in the way, lol

well my fears came true, the fiberglass fender eliminator end would not fit on properly. it was about half an inch too short... so i was not able to make it fit together. maybe the manufacturer is trying to save up on material... or his mould shrunk? lol

in any case, i did not want to stress the farings to the point that they crack/break.

for now im going to keep the metal plate number bracket, since that works well, and looks good too.

now im thinking of just chopping the OEM fender. but im trying to buy one cheap from some of the other guys that have taken theirs off... id still like to keep one original fender, in case i want to put it back when the heavy monsoons hit again in 10~ months.
