Ha. When you have kids you teach them to not retaliate if prevoked. Even if this guy was provoked... Which I don't think he was really and it's more like he is a dumb douche who thinks everyone tries to race him...it doesn't make his actions right.

Remove the common denominators here and what you have is one person hitting the other. You can't do that.

Waiting for a belligerent person to approach, while sitting on 300 lbs of metal ready to fall upon either side is not very street savvy, at least in my book.
Fighting a quick moving guy while wearing that restrictive gear is not the best idea either, among other body parts, your neck is still very vulnerable. Why has everybody assumed that both guys were in good mental shape? From "Proficient Motorcycling":

^ I think the motorcyclist had a nice clear head. He held his composure, and reacted appropriately. I think we've all accelerated past someone while trying to hold our place on a road way. It's part of riding a motorcycle. either way, fleeing the approaching roided out guy would probably have been the safest option, unless he got back in his car and decided to try to run you down.
and to all of those who think that there was no "provocation" to race, or whatever you think, I will leave this here. This was posted from the motorcycle rider on the BARF forum. This is the rider admitting that while he didn't want to race, he understands how it could have been construed as such. Quote:

I hope if that happens to me, I'm more alert than that. I'd like to think I'd have the presence of mind to ride away as soon as his door popped open and then find somewhere safe to pull over. I'd probably choose to stop at a petrol station (lots of cameras and witnesses/support) or a police station (lots of people with weapons!).
Luckily for him, his gormless approach to the situation worked out ok though. |

The video with that dude in the car pissed me off more I think. If I had a camera and caught him doing that and was in my beater id nail him. The video proves he was driving dangerously and asking for. Id get a new car, he'd get whiplash and his ins. Would sky rocket. Sounds like awin to me. Of course the dude who caught it looked like he was driving a nice car so I can see why he didnt want to that route.

I had a drunk get all worked up at me because I went past with my high beams on. I forgot I had my high beam on. So he dives in behind me and turns on his high beams. Gets like an inch from my back bumper. I am driving a 1972 trans am with full race suspension. Built to the hilt 283 Chevy motor.
I ease the speed up to about 100 mph and drift slowly into the exit for the beltway. When we got to the turn I pulled about .90 on the skid pad. His 1984 Lincoln town car did not even turn.

Nope he blew both front tires and slid all the way up the hill to the highway. We turned around and headed back to see of he was OK. It all happen so fast and was not intentional at all. By the time we got around and back the police car was sitting with his lights flashing and the cop was walking toward the car. It was 1:00 am on Christmas morning

A couple things. Jalopnik and autocar lost credibility a loooong time ago. The noise to signal ratio is horrific on those sites. Both are breeding hideouts for "car squids."
Speaking of car squids; vw bros... Where do we even begin. I guess when the Honda ricers became stagnant in the mid 2000s the gti was the go to douche mobile. Thanks for bringing us hellaflush and pioneering the stance tards. Enjoy your check engine lights. I believe they come standard with purchase. Lol. O and forums to laugh at like vwvortex.com. ^ major generalizations. Dsg gear boxes are cool and the 1.8t motors are pretty potent and stout consider that an Ecu tune will score quite a bit of hp. But heavy front drivers are not the business. I don't think they make rear bars big enough to get the rear ends to rotate. It's easy to sit behind a computer and pretend like we would've knuckled up with an aggressive person. I think most of us would've responded just like the guy in the video did. Normal people don't respond or act like the car driver did. It would totally catch a sane person off guard. Bewilderment would be a good word. Fighting or taking part in the big who has the biggest wiener contest usually results in lose lose situation. Let it go. Personally, that whole ordeal would've never happened to me. I've had a handful of people try to race me or whatever in their car while I'm on the 250. I ignore it or evaluate the situation if I think I'm instigating bad behavior. I hate to admit this on the forum but sometimes breaking all the laws mean keeping you and crazy cager separated. Most people get nervous doing double the speed limit for awhile and or doing reckless maneuvers. If you need to get out a situation then you need to start thinking outside the norm. The left turn lanes at intersections become open lanes to pass traffic, the shoulder on the freeway is a lane, tight twisty roads but with a clear view, turn that into a racetrack and use the whole road and cut proper lines. |

Not everybody is a fighter, but there are times when you need to do it.
fortunately this incident was not one of those times. bad thing is you never know how far he'll go. so my advice is to be prepared for the entire use of force spectrum. that way you decide the outcome, not some insane loser with a sh!++& car.
