Who in their right mind???

Would ever pay $186 for a stock IRC. I was looking at it for a cheap tire option for the season. $186 OEM!!! So yeah, ummm forget that. Ran a search on the forum for SHINKO SR741. Few and brief mentions but only good stuff.

Anyone else have experience with these?

Also, http://www.americanmototire.com/catalog/index.php It seems like a sketchy site... got it from the marketplace here though. Anyone know what business is like with them? And how fast they ship, since that isn't listed either.

Many thanks

just for ****s and giggles the other day I called a dealer down the road and asked them if they had any tires in the new gen sizes and they said of course no, we will order the stock IRC's in. $160 for the front. I tried not to laugh out loud over the phone.

I picked up a sport demon front for $97 shipped. I can live with that.

My local dealer wanted $210 for the tire and $80 to mount it. WTF
Are you kidding me!!! That was almost as much as the set of 4 tires i bought and had mounted on my car which cost $310 for everything.

For one tire?? Wow, that's a lot. I'd avoid that stealership and try to find another place that services Kawasaki.

Maybe ask around with other riders in your area and see what shops they recommend..?

OEM prices are off the wall. Called 2 dealerships to see what cost of mounting would be if I brought my own tire in with the old ones on the bike. $78 at one place. $65 at the other. Think I'm going to pull the trigger on the Shinkos here:

http://www.americanmototire.com/cata...oducts_id=5300

Anyone have experience with this dealer or tire? I'm firing blind lol

My Shinko SR740/741 combo rear lasted 8K but should've been replaced at 7. The front tire was still in good shape at 9.5K

You're my hero Anything I should know about them? Wet performance, grip, or braking qualms?

Grip is not that greasy. Felt the front slide in a fee turns but that was probably lack of skill. Did well braking and wet riding. It's a similar tire to the ORC I believe

I wonder if OEM BT45 or GT501 tires are typically cheaper than retail. Hmm...

No clue lol I ordered the Shinko SR741 on Sunday. When I receive it, I'll do a review of the company on here and then after my cross state trip at the end of the month, I'll do a product review too

Found the GT501 OEM combo for under $190 at Bike Bandit. I hope it's still available when I'm in the market again.

Oh, and that Shinko 740/741 combo is a bit cheaper at BikeBandit (about $121). It'd be cheapest to order the rear from AMT ($1.29 cheaper) and the front from Bandit ($3.04 cheaper) to get it under $120.

Other than price, the main difference between them and the Dunlop GT501 tires seems to be mileage. I know that the GT501 tires are known for their longevity while the reviews of the 741 go so far as to call it a "2,500 mile tire," so I'm torn between saving $70 with more frequent tire changes or getting the tires I already know and am familiar with. It'd be the Dunlops for sure if I were still paying for tire changes. I am so happy that the Harbor Freight tire changer attachment is available again!

Just replaced my pregen front with one of these

£50 $83
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kawasaki-G...item5aedc2f9cc

rear is £90 $150
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kawasaki-G...item5aeddb26c5

I thought I was going to post good news but I see the dollar exchange rate has slipped a loooong way recently.
