Ventura Rack
We installed the Ventura Rack system on the '04 Ninjette. Most often, we only had the short rack on along with the sport pack. It basically takes the place of a tankbag.
For longer trips, you can put in a tall rack and the larger 50 liter bags. You can even zip two of those bags together, one in front and one in back of the rail, for 100 liters of storage capacity. I can't find any pictures of the Ninjette with the large bags on, but here's a stock pick from the cycleventure.com sit of the new Ninjette: In that picture, the bag is facing forward. You can also mount the bag facing backward, and if you have two bags you can mount them both at the same time. I really liked the Ventura system; plenty of space, and it mounts much more securely to the bike than saddlebags just flopping around.

How much did you pay for the rack? Is that the 'sport rack'? Did it bolt right on, or did it require any mods?

The pricing is up at:
http://www.cycleventure.com/order_no...fitment_id=580 If you just want the sport rack (that's what's mounted on the ninjette in these pictures) it's $245 for the l-brackets, the sport rack, the grab handle, and the sport pack itself. But, it's much more useful to get the tour pack for $375(which includes both the pack rack & the sport rack), then just buy the sport pack separately. Then you have a tank bag replacement (sport pack), and you also have a large piece of luggage if you want to go on a longer trip. The L-brackets are a piece of cake to install, you just put longer bolts (provided) right into the same holes that the standard bungee hooks are on the ninjette. No other mods necessary.

Got this for $65. Made by Timberwolf Luggage. I can pack 4 days worth of stuff in it. I bought it for 2-up trips. And yes, I can still see the gauges

I am just a hair over 6 ft.
Believe it or not, the bags look MUCH taller with nobody sitting on the bike. But I think if you are under 5' 10", you probably would not be comfortable trying to ride with an enormous bag like that. |

2007 250, Ventura sport rack and more
I turned my little Ninjette into a Quarter-Concours. I have the Ventura sport rack, a 46L Givi case and Fieldsheer saddlebags. The rack will hold a little weight, but don't push it too much. Put a bag on the pillion with any real weight. I mostly use the Givi for stowing my helmet and gloves when I park, sometimes small stuff when I ride.

Once installed, you typically leave the lower bars on full-time, and then just change out the rack part of it from short to tall depending on whether you have a tall bag on it at the time or not. Most folks don't uninstall the entire system in between long trips.

If I want to head out to the twisties, I rarely even remove luggage. If I do, I just leave the base and rack installed and remove the bags and top case. The rack itself doesn't weight anything to worry about, but it ain't pretty. The set-up does keep LEO's from giving me much attention, even on roads known for dangerous riding.

ventura rack touring
Looks like a nice touring setup. Thank you for providing this information it has been very helpful to me.
I'm about to head out touring in a week and am setting up my 2004 ninja 250. One question. What windscreen are you using? Also what modifications were necessary to mount it? Thanks! |

http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade...view/5726/543/ I like it and wouldnt mind having for only $120. If you wanted you could then go to ebay or jcwhitney and buy a topcase ~$60. (its a cheap givi knockoff) |

Not for the 250 or from this forum but I used this as a guide when I put the E21 sidecases for the newgen. Maybe it'll give you some ideas on mounting more than just a topcase to the pregen 250's.
