Got a few pics from last weekend, I was too busy riding to look at them during the event (open track means keep riding til you run out of gas then fill up and go back out)

got bumped to TPM's red group (goes white-yellow-red-blue-black) at the end of the day after leading one of the coaches on a wild ride through NCCAR and gapping him at points (both on N300s he's new to being WFO all the time)

I'm aware of the toes...now...I was wondering why they were dragging and figured it was because my pegs are lower than I'm used to for track til I saw the pics

My biggest improvement doesn't actually show in these photos, I learned to rotate my inside hand a bit forward which naturally bends my inside elbow more allowing my inside shoulder and head to drop lower. I haven't figured out how to do this on the throttle side just yet due to the need to roll on the throttle

Sideways hand, palm the end of the bar and make a screwdriver motion on the throttle.

That works up until I need to reset to get the rest of the throttle pull...maybe I should just get an r6 throttle tube and remove that issue that way

That, or just grip further forward to start with so you don't have to regrip to get full throttle.

I have two, one in front and one behind. That, plus RaceRender, lets me do picture-in-picture video. This is the session during which the front quarter photos above were taken:

Link to original page on YouTube.

The front one is attached to a CycleMount mirror mount, which is distributed by Woodcraft (https://www.woodcraft-cfm.com/cgi-bi...&category=CMOO)

The mount is GoPro compatible, so I got an adaptor off of Amazon that lets you mount the Contour to any GoPro mount. The mount bolts in where your mirror goes. I safetied it to the mount bolts.

The rear is a Contour helmet mount -- sticky pad with an arm that allows swivel and tilt -- attached to the tail fairing. The mount is off-center to put the camera on the centerline of the bike. Safetied to the two tail fairing mounting bolts.

These cameras work well with weird mount locations because the lens rotates. They're easy to switch on while wearing gloves, and a 32 gb card will hold enough video at 720p to last two whole track days plus. The ones I have are the ROAM2, which is only $99 these days. For about $230 you can get the Contour +2, which has GPS. BTW, Contour was just bought by Ion, which makes a similar styled camera.

I just made a big change in body positioning regarding my lower body. Next step is to get the upper body to follow suit...

^^ hey first time on track and best thing to do is just get comfortable, get used to riding the line so don't sweat any BP stuff

Next time I would start with just pointing your head where your mirror used to be and start getting used to the that, it will move your body. Welcome to the addiction.

Hey @Mike K, I see you're fairly local to me.

FYI, several Ninjettiski are going to be at Palmer with Tony's Track Days in August, including Chris (csmith12), Ben (sirref) (probably), Ant (ducati999), Jay (bigballsofpaint) and myself.

Palmer is AWESOME!!!!!!! I'm sure you've seen the videos. They do not do the place justice.

I was concentrating on being smooth which I wasn't until maybe the last session. I just picked two pics with decent lean. I was probably lower in the sessions before those when the pics were taken. Notice that the brake lever is bare aluminum and the clutch is stock black. I went down in the third session-- too fast in and way off line-- and had to repair the bike. I was a little more cautious after that but as I forced myself to look through the turns and further out I settled down and realized that it was less work to go faster. Probably the most important thing I learned was the looking through to the next point-- connecting the dots smoothly. That and focus and concentration. Through most of the day I was distracted in the last set of turns by a white sedan parked in the woods beyond the fence. It was just sitting there with it's hood up. Out of curiosity I mentioned it to a few guys and none of them even noticed it. They were totally focused. I wasn't. That's why I went down. My mind wandered.

Yes. We ran Lightning in reverse (counterclockwise) on Saturday so it would have been on the outside of turns 1 and 2 if run clockwise.

Running reverse makes turn 1 a blind unloaded downhill. Pretty butt puckering the first few sessions but pretty cool after learning to trust that the track was still exactly as it was on the previous laps and that the bike could do it.

That was your issue then, and also why no one else saw it. Looking where you intend to go makes the biggest difference in the world in this sport

Yeah man, good stuff to work on for sure. Getting the eyes up and forward preps the mind for what your going to do next. Things slow down a bit and your SRs stay at bay a bit longer. Just getting out there, riding within yourself, and working on one thing at a time will pay big dividends. Sounds like you have the right way forward mentally

Thanks guys. I'm being analytical about it. This is geometry and physics and while I was never good at either I know that this is science and art combined. I'm slow now but I'll progress.

Here's pic of me and one of the coaches, Mark. Note where he's looking and note where I'm looking. Very telling photo. This is my favorite photo of the 28 on the disc. This is the money shot for me.

most recently at Thunderhill. First day on the ninjette there. Vortex rearsets, driven clipons, Leo Vince slip on, R6 front master cylinder, galfer SS brake lines

Working on feeling right on this bike. Still want clip-ons lower to get my upped body down. Feels so different than my R6 :laugh

Also working on wrist/screwdriver position. Was doing it last season, somehow not turned into muscle memory yet, so will consciously work on it.

btw @Aufitt how are you liking that R3? looks like you've got it dialed in the way you want it from the pics. It's my current favorite in the class despite the fact that I haven't had a chance to actually ride the thing (though I can't get one until it's allowed in all of my potential racing series)
