Normally when you see that color, there is water in the oil. Never seen it stuck to the valve cover like that though. What does the rest of the oil/case look like?

or coolant. Maybe a head gasket leak. Check your coolant, what colour is it?

Another possible culprit is the coolant tube looking at the rear of the cylinder head. Mine was leaking slightly and getting past the valve cover gasket. Just pull the tube out and replace the o-ring. The o-ring is the same small o-ring used for your oil filter change. You may also want to replace the 2 rubber dampeners that keep the coolant tube from rattling.

Thats definaitley moisture in the oil. What color is the oil in the sight glass? To many short trips and not letting the engine get up to temp can cause this too. As can a bad water pump seal.

When i was using my homemade carb sync thing. water was splashing into the vacuum lines. Could this be why? Everything else is normal color oil.

Most likely not. Water ingested at the carbs would be sucked in and turned to steam in the combustion process and spit out the tail pipe. Its not uncommon to get moisture build up in the crank case. Usually when the engine warms up to operating temperature this moisture steams off and exits via the crancase breather. Short trips and infrequent trips hinder the ability of this process, thats why I asked about your driving habits. It may be normal for your situation if the oil in the sight glass isn't milky. Or it could be an early sign of what lies ahead.

How old is the bike? Is it second hand? If it is it might have had a problem in the past which has been fixed but the build up of crap was not cleaned off. |

I'm going with water in the oil as well. my only other addition to this is that my chrysler motor keeps getting weird crap in the breather tube up front from the breather hose, but I doubt this to be your case.

The carbs sucked in water. Not just a splash; like full hoseline of water. It has never been like that. its even in the sight glass.

If its in the sight glass there is a large quantity of coolant in the oil. I would be looking towards head gasket or water pump shaft seal. Any water injested into your carbs would be bumped out the tail pipe just like the air/fuel mixture that gets pumped through the engine.

if you sent a bunch of water into the cylinder then you probably waterlocked the engine and blew out your head gasket now you are sending coolant through the head gasket gap into your oil, contaminating the oil.

Did the water intake kill the engine ? And if so did it start back up after this event? Also how did your bike run after this happened?

It's all sorted out. I raced the bike and it worked fine.

What was it?
After pulling apart a ninja 250 cylinder head what I said before seems pretty stupid. No water getting sucked in the carbs is going to make it into the top of the cylinder and do that. My advice, take it to a mechanic, get the combustion chamber pressure tested or do it yourself. If thats all good it's a upper cylinder head gasket leak. Also, check the rubber thing on the water pipe, my bike is only 2 and half years old and mines already cracked pretty bad |

Hey guys, so *apparently* some Kawi mechanics put... lithium grease on the valve shim buckets for lubrication instead of engine oil when doing valve adjustments This gets literally everywhere in the engine. Not sure if it's bad for it but it looks horrible
