Trunk won't open!!

Went to go for a ride today and I go to take my helmet off the bike (hanging by the helmet hook under the rear seat) and the key won't work!!!!

I can't get the key to go completely in and therefore I can't get my helmet and therefore I CAN'T RIDE!!!!!!!!!!!

Has this happened to anyone else (did a search)?? Help????

Try pushing down on the rear seat (cowl) and see if that will help. The helmet latch might be hanging up the rear seat latch.

Yes, try that ... and also, try spraying some wd40 into the keyhole to maybe dislodge dirt that might be accumulated in the lock mechanism. jiggle the key in the lock after you spray the lube in there to work it around.

CC & Kelly: I did both the wd-40 and pushing on the seat. I also purchased some graphite and put in the lock mechanism as well. It worked!! Thanks for your input guys.

Another question though: I have very little seat time thus far and I noticed on my ride today that I am VERY jerky on the throttle (esp during shifting) which caused a lot of front-end diving. How can I alleviate that? Practice, I guess, huh? I need to become smoother.

Another question: It seems that my foot was constatntly searching for the rear brake, as if it wasn't high enough to my foot. Can I adjust it?

Thanks again.

Deb,

Glad to hear you got the trunk open and can now go riding.

As far as your other questions, I think more would benefit if you start a new post in the Riding Skills forum asking just what you did here so you can get more input from the other members on the board. Great questions, though.
