Talking Painted Windscreen

Last night I painted my windscreen, here are the picture and what I used for prep and paint.

1st I uninstalled the screen by just removing the screws. Next laid paper down on the concrete in my garage to prevent going all Van Gogh on the floor. I wiped the screen down with some electronics cleaner crap wipes, bc thats all I had in the crib. I would recommend buying a lent free cloth. Then I started layin' down 3 coats about an hour apart. All on the inside of the screen, I choose not to paint the outside and keep the sticker. It was also cold out so I used a space heater.

And heres a couple picks of it hanging to dry and it all put back together.

You can handle it after an hour, but the directions said to wait a full 24 hours.

Is this the best option for going cheap? How about tinting it? Or should I just get one that's already made black?

Best Option? That's totally up you. If you want a different shape, buy one.

You can get it at any store that sells spray paint. It's nothing special. http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=118

I just used plastic trim paint to do mine in black. I cleaned it with Windex before, masked it off, painted it, let it sit overnight, then put it on. The picture in my photo album that has my bike parked next to a Super Duke shows how it looks painted black. I think it looks great. It's much cheaper than buying a new 'screen. Especially if you really don't need a touring 'screen.

Hey guys another option is to use "lens tint". You can buy it at any autoparts store. I recently tinted or "blacked out" the tailights on my cars. This would be a good option if you want to still be able to see through your windscreen. The brand I used was called VHT Nightshades I believe.

I did my windscreen in Niteshade, turned out perfect to.

VHT Niteshade is basicly a very very dark purple color, (actually looks black when applied..)
