Clip-ons Installed, now Clearance Issues
Just like when I put aftermarket bars, on my 650R, the bodywork on the 250 interferes with the clip-ons. Everything works and functions, but the cables rub against the fairing at full lock.
Has anyone come up with a way to limit steering travel, such as building up the steering stops? |

I drilled a small hole in the lower fork clamp steering stop where it hits the frame.and then screwed in a small screw. That limited the steering .I don't even notice it . But it will make oparking harder.

I have similar issues with my own bike. But since I'm the rider, I just try to not steer the bike to full lock. This one is my wife's, so for convenience, I want to make a fix for the problem. |

Kurt, you could also try and cable-tie everything together to yield a much stiffer bunch of cables, and create a wider arch with this stiffer bunch of cable, and maybe get away from the rubbing....
I'm personally not a fan of limiting the steering...

I had clearance issues with the shinto clipons as well. After adjusting and tweaking for a week, I just gave up and mounted them above the triple-tree. My fairings were getting scratched and i didn't want to adjust the bar angle any higher than horizontal.

I moved the break line a few degrees, and messed with the cables some. It's just the last bit of turn each way, that's the problem.
To the left, if I limit the turning to the 'locked' position, I'd be fine. I'm going to look into bonding a washer to the turn stop, or tapping in a screw, the way Eric did. |
